Maple Brook Barnabus

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)White
AOA# 840936DOB: 7/3/200222 yrs
With over 125 crias on the ground and 10 Get of Sire wins he's established himself as one of the elite herdsires in the country. His 12 month histogram of 12.8 micron, 2.6 SD and 0.3% + 30 is one of the finest ever tested. More impressive is that he's held that fineness and uniformity and dependably passes it to his crias. At Xanadu Farm full time. We have a few females bred to him and several of his blue ribbon daughters for sale.

ONE OF OUR BEST ALPACAS!

High Plains Aquilina

HuacayaOpen (Female)Medium Fawn
AOA# 35267676DOB: 7/18/201410 yrs
Aquilina delivered 5 June 2022 an absolute rock solid beast of a cria at ~22 pounds, Dusty Road Alpacas Barnabus' Cosmos. She is a recent addition to our ranch obtained as part of our "up-gun in 21" effort to improve our herd genetics across color lines. Her pedigree is strong top & bottom with true black & grey including TB MFI Peruvian Black Mesquite, plus a Canadian-Peruvian dam who is the daughter of renowned Canadian standout, High Plains Amadeus. We could not be happier with the results of this acquisition from Xanadu. Aquilina was bred to our other Xanadu quality stud-Broadway-for a 2023 birth that produced Freya, an 18 pound beautiful female who has great conformance and the markings of sire Broadway Bound, a multi-show banner winner.

Description

As part of our effort to up-gun the genetics of our herd in 2021, we purchased High Plains Aquilina from Xanadu Farms, bred to the legendary Maple Brook Barnabus. DRA Barnabus' Cosmos is the first Cria to reflect the results. At about 7 weeks this quality male was approaching 50 pounds with dense quality bundled fiber with soft handle and total conformation. He is somewhat of a beast, with an exceptionally solid frame dominated by huge legs, particularly his hind quarter that is already much bigger than our "juvies." We suspect he is going to fill out much like his famous Sire Barnabus with a high capacity frame and the fiber quality that Barnabus-whose 12 month fleece was 12.3 micron with 2.6 SD- continues to exhibit throughout his two decades, being a renowned herdsire with 10 Get of Sire wins to his credit. His dam Aquilina is a good sized girl with dense fiber, top genetics of black and grey in her lineage, although Cosmos is currently exhibiting white fiber replacing his cria coat. Cosmos did well in the ring at Nationals against very competitive animals. We are waiting for his fiber metrics.
