Be still our beating hearts. CCNF Perceus was the apple of our eye from the moment he was born in the summer of 2018. It was in point of fact the very possibility of creating just such a young aspiring Herdsire, that caused us to jump at the opportunity to bring his world famous sire, Snowmass Elite Legend, back into the fold here at CCNF (we now co own EL with the lovely folks at Tierra Prometida Alpacas) the year before. Percy's maternal line was already all-powerful in the white/light half of our breeding program but the only major Herdsire of ours that his incredible dam, Pristine, had never had the chance to breed with -- she was always open when he was elsewhere during his first tour with us -- was EL himself. While the Elite Legend line should really need no introduction here (our Herdsires CCNF Elixir and his brother, CCNF Sucrose, being the most prominent offspring holding court) it is Perceus' maternal line that also needs to be highlighted to make one understand what makes this guy so special: in addition to his dam Pristine (the top white Archangel daughter in our herd - whom we frankly wish was male), that line has produced CCNF Prestige, CCNF Precipice (2015 NAAS Judges' Choice winner), CCNF Primus (on his way to Germany to be a working Herdsire), CCNF Pristine Devotion, CCNF Priam (Primus' full brother and the White Champion ahead of baby brother, Percy, at the 2019 Futurity), CCNF Khione, CCNF Priya (2019 AOA Supreme Light Huacaya Female), and last but not least the youngest member of the clan, CCNF Prescience (Prestige x Bataclan). Though the big sisters/brothers/cousins are all variations on a theme, if you do the math, you quickly realize is that what we're getting in Perceus is a young Herdsire that comes from the single most potent maternal line in our white breeding program and arguably one of the most potent in the entire US domestic herd. Yeah, that might be a big boast, but we *believe*. You could of asked us as far back as January of 2019 which future Herdsire prospect we were most excited about for the 2020 breeding season -- 'cause we'er kind of dorky like that -- and it wasn't even close: irregardless of what would happen with show wins or the color(s) of his ribbons or banners: Perceus was and remains the one and only answer to that question. He is the very specimen we dreamed of on paper and just as importantly, has the genetics behind him which allow us to believe that he can potentially be everything we had ever hoped for. At worst, we project him being his maternal grandsire's (the mighty CCNF Archangel, hanging in their at age 17) legitimate heir and replacement, which alone would make the time, money, and effort made to produce him worthwhile. Of course we think Percy's upside is so much more though. We will update this listing as Perceus hopefully begins breeding later this spring and summer. Once he has achieved a live pregnancy, he will be available for limited outside stud service.

At first glance of Bianca's pedigree, you would not consider her line-bred. However, a deeper delve into her genetics and you find Peruvian Hemingway in generations 4, 5, and 6. Peruvian Augusto appears in generations 5 and 6 (sire and dam). Of equal importance to me, the dams Peruvian Andean Song is in generation 4 and 5, with PPPeruvian Duet twice in generation 5 (sire and dam). It's no wonder I chose CCNF Bataclan for her first breeding. The cria will be line-bred on Snowmass Elite Legend and CCNF Archangel (3rd and 4th generations). "Every generation, each parent passes half their chromosomes to their child. If nothing happened to the chromosomes between generations, there would be around a 1 in 8 chance that you would get no DNA from a great, great, great grandparent. What most people forget, though, is that our chromosomes get mixed and matched before they are passed on. It is because of this "recombination" that your great, great, great grandparent's DNA is almost certainly still lurking in yours." Arjun Adhikari Bianca has a beautiful long fiber length with excellent bone, a lovely head, and great coverage, and overall, I couldn't be more pleased. Hats off to her sire CCNF Defiance. Bianca delivered her first cria on 8/31/2020 (Colonial Athena), Sire: CCNF Bataclan, and she looks very promising. Bianca delivered her second cria (Colonial Zeus) on 6/20/2022 (she wasn't bred in 2020); Sire: CCNF Perceus; check out Zeus' page! Bianca delivered a CCNF Snow King daughter on June 29th, 2024.
