Cinders is the 2016 and 2017 AAA Futurity Dark Herd Sire of the Year and the 2018 Reserve Dark Herd Sire of the Year! He is also a 3 time Herd Sire of the Year for the Medium Breeder Division! Cinders had his first offspring on the ground in the spring of 2012 and his kids showed at the 2013 GWAS in Denver coming out of the ring with blue ribbons and much acclaim. Of the four entered all four won blue ribbons with Mystique going on the win the Reserve Color Championship. With a biopsy density of 67.5 at four years old, this guy has some impressive fiber stats. His first Great Lakes Ranch offspring certainly did not disappoint in 2015 nor in 2016. Needless to say Cinders is a welcome addition to our herd sire line up. Cinders is closed to outside breedings. Sombra is a beautiful jet black, high luster, dense female that Brad and Jandy purchased from Nancy Turner of Old Fields Farm. Her presence is incredible and she carries herself regally. She was bred to GLR Picasso and gave birth to a beautiful true black Picasso daughter, GLR Sombria in 2015 was a member of their show string in 2016, winning the Black Female Color Championship at the AOA Nationals, MAPACA Jubilee and GWAS and the Reserve Black Female Color Championship at the AAA Futurity standing next to GLR Miss Phoebe. Given Picasso's track record of three Judges Choice awards with a dark brown and a black female in 2014 and 2015, we are anxious to see if this little girl can keep up with her relatives in 2017! When the opportunity to acquire Greystroke, we were excited to work with Halo to bring a stud male with Shavano, Cinders, and Koloqua all rolled into one stellar herdsire. Thank you Halo for producing this fantastic male who not only has the unique color and genetics we love, but also has impressive fleece and phenotype to go with it. Information about Greystoke's sire: GLR Taj was the last cria born on the GLR ranch in 2013. And what a way for him to end up our birthing season. This little guy, at the time they thought to be one of their very best cria born on the ranch that year. He is an absolute clone of his sire, GLR Kolaqua, who was a two time AOBA Grey Color Champion. He has the tell tale wrinkled skin that comes with density which doesn't surprise us, as his dad's first shearing weight was almost 12 pounds. He had more wrinkles in fact than any other grey they have ever produced on their ranch. His mother GLR Tashi, is the daughter of GLR Tica who was a Color Champion and one of the very first colored Judges Choices. He has a pedigree packed with colored genetics, excellent fiber characteristics and conformation and we have high hopes that this young boy will be as successful as his papa both in the show ring and as a breeder of champion offspring. His full sister, GLR Tashina was the Reserve Grey Female Color Champion as a juvenile at the 2013 AAA Futurity and MAPACA and Grey Color Champion at the 2014 AOA Nationals. GLR Tashina ended her show careers by being named the very first grey Judges Choice, male or female. Information about Greystoke's dam: Alta, a beautiful black female, is out of GLR Alia, who was the 2014 AOA Nationals Black Female Color Champion, the 2014 AAA Futurity Female Black Color Champion, the 2014 MAPACA Jubilee Reserve Black Female Color Champion and the 2014 Suri Network Black Color Champion.
