Full Peruvian, with champions in his bloodlines that make you take a second look -- yes, that is the now deceased multiple champion true black Knight Ryder who showed who took the ring by storm in his day. And Shades of Silver is the champion son of the notable champion Legend's Peruvian Revelation by KPR. This pedigree is definitely 'name dropping' if you are interested in champion black and grey. In his showing he often stood second to Val d'Sere, the legendary many times color champion and judge's choice winner. And during the color champion, though the CCNF male took reserve (after Val d'Sere took CC, of course), we got several 2nd glances by the judge when Axios moved up to the front row for consideration. Axios, for his first breeding year, bred to our Sparrow Lark (who had made a lovely TB female by our multiple champion black herdsire), produced a fantastic deep brown boy last year and a mirrored girl this year. Both are beautiful. His 2019 boy, Shakespeare, is still available as we ramp back up into show mode after the year of Covid-19 restrictions, and his 2020 girl was sold at her dam's side. In 2021, Axios made three beautiful female and one male crias for us! He throws color! Sweet Carolina is a well grown BG out of (LF) Aika; no fault to him as Aika is resisting putting out dark. Divine Glamour is a luxurious BB out of our MF Divine Lady, and Oraine is a glowing MB out of our champion white Danica. He also made a spectacular bay black male out of a our MF dam, Carnaval who unfortunately had an ear infection as a young cria that affected our ability to show him. So, the girls, Glamour and Oraine, had to represent Axios alone - both garnering banners! We are more than proud. He is closed to outside breedings but will be available as a service sire to sold dams from Autumn Sun Alpacas.

If you are curious to know... Aika is a 'love song' in Japanese, and it is pronounced 'AH-ee-ka' or if it is easier -- 'EYE-ka'. Aika is the paternal half sister to our Special K, a multiple champion fawn dam of our many time champion Black Maelstrom. She is out of Song, who has lingering fiber quality and had produced a slew of excellent dams (and an occasional herdsire) for us over the years. Song has also produced black more than once, and those dark genes have been passed on to Aika who has had her own black crias and whose progeny has produce black as well. Aika's light fawn girl, Fresca, sired by the multiple champion Matrix son Red Granite's Mr. Ben Franklin, boasted a luxurious, shiny fleece with a staple past our hand length and a crimp all the way to her skin! After being shorn, we were really impressed with her regrowth of even more beautiful fiber that was delicious to handle. Fresca, had a worthy show career with banners earned before producing first a black male in 2021 with spectacular fleece and then our very nice 2023 fawn girl named Champagne Bubbles that stole everyone's heart so that she secured her spot in our reducing herd. Then Aika honed her breeding skills on her white male cria by the white Accoyo America Seneca Warrior, who sold as a juvie. Aika showed herself to be a really great mom with this second cria that quickly exceeded all the other crias that year in growth rate and overall weight /size. With Axios, our fawn herdsire with grey lineage, she produced... well, a beige ;). But it is often said that fawns and beiges often still have the genetics for grey though they themselves are expressing as a light. This 2021 well-developed girl grew fast under Aika's devoted attention as a juvie and solidly filling out as a yearling. Carolina has been bred to our champion modern rose (roan) grey, LibertyAlpaca's Magistrate. Aika produced a black girl by our champion black Dark Secret! Producing black when bred to black, not a bad trait to have in a dark breeding program. Mina has a nice crimp, density, and brightness -- and a fist sized silver grey spot on her hip, so we know she wants to breed grey!. For her 2024 cria, Aika was bred to our AOA black fleece champion, AutumnSun's Guinness. She has produced a healthy MF boy! This boy reminds me of Fresca, her keeper daughter from a similarly pedigreed sire.

We loved the even coloration and fiber qualities across his blanket when we saw this male at a show and knew he would be great covering our own modern grey (roan) dams. His pedigree is also loaded in fantastic champions who produce champions, namely his sire Irish Meadows Peruvian Carbon Copy (son of Avalon's Jacob Black) and his dam Graysea (daughter of Crystal Spartan). Then top off this male with his great looks - a solid, balanced frame in heavy bone and excellent conformation - and you have a total package! He is showing that he is passing on the roan gene to his offspring out of roan and solid dams. [No discount or sales pricing due to co-ownership]

Description

Well grown, nicely conformed with a long staple. She's going to be a good breeder. Both Aika and Axios have made black crias, so if I was to lay a bet, Carolina would be a fully saturated black (ee aa). Axios has produced dark/black more than once from light/fawn dams and Aika has made black as well. Aika is from one of our deepest lines of dams on our farms -- often white/light dams that all have the ability to produce dark/black in their lovely framed finely fibered offspring. In hopes of a dark cria, we bred her to our champion dark modern rose (roan) grey LibertyAlpaca's Magistrate who is sired by the many time black champion Irish Meadows Peruvian Carbon Copy out of the champion modern rose (roan) grey Greysea (hailing from Majestic Meadows), sired by Crystal Spartan -- a male well known for siring quality modern (roan) greys. Unfortunately, Carolina had difficulty birthing her first pregnancy and lost her white male cria. As Unproven still, her price is reduced to pet prices to allow her to move to her new home without high risk in purchase cost for her new owners. She is not sold with breeding warranties but her certificate can be transfered as a breeder. SOLD! Congratulations to Kim and Robert Brandsma of Sugar Pike Alpacas!
