[CLOSED; NFS] AutumnSun's Black Maelstrom

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)True Black
AOA# 35044017DOB: 10/6/201410 yrs
RC '16 AOA Fleece, CC '17 AOA Halter Maelstrom is a 13x champion, the 2016 AOA National Fleece Black Reserve Champion, and 2017 AOA National Halter Black Male Color Champion. His first fleece was measured in 2015 to be 18.81 AFD / 3.62 SD / 19.2% CoV. To bring home his banners, he combined awesome shiny, fine and uniform handle with tight crimp from his dam with Secret's inky-black similarly crimpy, shiny, and consistent fiber. Though both dam and sire have great coverage, Mael's head is credited to his sire's beautiful headstyle that cannot help but catch the eye. He is well conformed and balanced in his frame. Maelstrom has a lineage filled with champion banners, exceptional lineage, and black genetics. In Maelstrom, you have a list of "who's who" merging into a TRUE BLACK 7/8 Peruvian cornerstone herdsire. Maelstrom is the progeny of our multiple champion black herdsire Wolf Den's Dark Secret, who is the optimal result of the pairing of Dark Quest crossed with Othello bloodlines. His paternal grandsire is the well known Snowmass Nova's Dark Quest, son of the famous Snowmass Nova, son of Snowmass Peruvian Casanova. He is out of our lovely Fossil Ridge's Special K, a 7x champion fawn dam hailing from the multiple Champion Rumaki, a Royal Fawn son with the bloodlines of Presido and Felix. His crias have been stunning! Maelstrom's cria coloration to date is 88% black (TB or BB) from a black dam and 100% on our farm by dams whose pedigrees are known to produce black and/or are loaded in black. He has been bred to both black (49%) and non-black (51%) dams. When bred to the lighter colored dams (white, beige, light fawn) he produced crias darker than their dams 60% of the time, even some black crias! When his progeny have been bred to black, 100% of the descendants have been black. More than of one of his crias born to dams at our clients' farms have been described as "blue-black" in their owners glowing compliments.
Maelstrom is closed to outside breedings. He is not available for sale unless with the purchase of entire herd; in that event, no breedings will be allowed until he is paid off in full.

Red Granite's Molly

HuacayaBred (Female)Bay Black
AOA# 35241256DOB: 7/22/201410 yrs
This 9X CH black Jamahl girl is a cornerstone dam! As her first cria, Molly produced a beautiful black male sired by Red Granite's exceptional herdsire MR Sizlin Rose, a Snowmass Matrix 11x champion brown son whose bright, high frequency crimp fiber and dense fleece is an excellent pairing with bay black Molly. We had our fingers crossed for a girl so we can cross this genetic treasure trove with our black males, but are suitably impressed with the fiber on the male they produced. AutumnSun's Guinness stands as a proven herdsire in our stud row. For her second cria, Molly produced a fantastic male by our multiple champion Stradivarius, and this boy is the spitting image of his sire. As he matured, his fiber looked more and more just like Stradivarius' and we know he will be a fantastic herdsire himself in Austria. Molly produced a beautiful girl with her pairing to our multiple champion black herdsire, AutumnSun's Black Maelstrom. We considered for a long time whether to keep this lovely girl, Marvelous Miranda, but in the end decided to put our best up for auction in the 2022 Amber Autumn Auction. Miranda sold well and will be going to join her herd in Poland with her (at that time, at her side) Stradivarius cria. We then bred Molly back for her 2022 cria - another cria by our multiple champion Black Maelstrom - and she gave us another beautiful cria just like Miranda, but as a boy. For now, this boy First Impression remains in our herd but we are looking for his new home, as his family is in foundation at our farm.

Description

Thank you and congratulations to Rotten Mud Hodowla Alpak in Poland for the purchase of our AutumnSun's Oraine and AutumnSun's Marvelous Miranda at the (2023) 9th Annual Amber Autumn Auction! We are pleased in your faith in our program, and we are excited at the prospect of further promoting our alpacas in Europe. Her sire: Maelstrom is the progeny of our multiple champion black herdsire, Wolf Den's Dark Secret who is the optimal result of the pairing of Dark Quest crossed with Othello bloodlines. He is out of our Fossil Ridge's Special K, a multiple champion fawn dam hailing from the multiple Champion Rumaki. His first fleece was measured to in 2015 to be 18.81 AFD / 3.62 SD / 19.2% CoV. When his progeny have been bred to black, 100% of the descendents have been black. More than of one of his crias born to dams at our clients' farms have been described as "blue-black" in their owners glowing compliments. Her dam: Molly is a 9x bay black champion that is sired by SpringToo Jamahl, a 6x dark brown champion who has his own list of award-winning progeny. Molly's first fleece was measured in 2015 to be 17.6 AFD / 3.4 SD / 19.2% CoV / 0.4% above 30 / 46.1 crimp / 16.8 comfort. Molly has made only black for us: 2x Reserve Champion AutumnSun's Guinness (including AOA Reserve Champion Fleece), AutumnSun's Peacekeeper (sold to an Austrian farm before shown), our Miranda, and this last year AutumnSun's First Impression (a full brother to Miranda). A potential service sire: Our true black herdsire Stradivarius is a 26x fleece and halter black champion with champion bloodlines in his pedigree which hails back to both Snowmass and Patagonia , in his sire Snowmass Andean Midnight and dam Patagonia's Simone (pivotal farms that were pioneers in the industry). His wins include AOA National Show Halter Champion, AOA National Show Invited Champion Champion, and 3x AOA National Fleece Show Champion. We have been very selective with breedings to him, closed to outside breedings, to ensure the best case scenarios in most situations for black offspring. From this, 83% of the time he produced black (TB & BB) and 100% of the time, when bred to black dams. When bred to dams of other colors he produced black 43% of the time but darkened the cria 100% of the time. Now you understand why we somewhat regret offering her for sale, when we could have the progeny from her bred to Stradivarius.
