Troubadour is still standing stud at our farm. He sheared 9.9 lbs this year at almost 13 years ld. HE is still one of my best studs! We first showed Troubadour in 2013 at the age of 5. We were so happy that the judges could see what an outstanding male he was. He is still holding that beautiful architecture. he is maintaining that beautiful high frequency crimp with the density and fineness for his age at 24 micron. In 2016, I did histograms on all of his cria's that were her. They were from 13.9 to 18.1. Troubadour is throwing that low micron. He also is giving his cria excellent fleece coverage and That Head! Troubadour has a pleasant laid back personality which his cria's seem to have also. I cannot say enough about using this male in your breeding program.

Description

We are thrilled to bring Fernando into our stud row! His teddy bear face, elite fleece, and laid back personality make him a keeper. We absolutely love the Troubadour line, Fern is one of 3 from this line at our farm <3 Written by previous owner, Kitt Hollister at Howling Hill Alpacas ____________________________________________________________________ Here we have a boy who is extremely cool, extremely unique, and extremely elite. Fernando is 1/2 brother to one of our top herdsires, Troubadour's Riddler. I have two herdsires and three daughters of Dupioni's Vintage Troubadour, which should give an indication of how much I value his line. Why do I think so highly of Troubadour? ... Well, after I took some recent photos of Fernando, I went into the female paddock and got very confused as to why he was in there. He wasn't -- it was a 1/2 sister out of a totally different dam. They all look alike, see. They are all absolutely stunning. Fernando is especially cool, because his dam line is also pretty powerful -- and very, very underrated. His mom is a full Bolivian (how often do you see THAT in an elite pedigree?) whose sire, Roman Candle, appears to have been a super duper sleeper. I have seen other seriously elite alpacas with Roman Candle very close up. Riddler, Fernando's 1/2 brother, has been hands-down our best producing herdsire to date. He's been stamping that extreme head, great bone, and seriously serious fleeces onto his offspring. Fernando is an excellent compliment to his brother; both have stunning, ice-blue eyes that you can't see because of their tremendous coverage, and both have outstanding conformation and terrific density. Riddler is bigger -- not just because he is older; I expect Fernando to mature to a bit smaller frame -- and I don't believe that his fleece is quite as fine as Fernando's. Fernando has a higher-frequency crimp and superior brightness. Fernando is also a minimally-expressed pinto. This is pretty cool, because I believe it should help him to produce the color that we are principally breeding for: Harlequin Appaloosa. And, because of the extreme pre-potency of both of his bloodlines, I expect him to produce.
