The other grows 4 inches ( 25% more for the extra inch) of fibre/year for a total of 10 lbs. That's 2.5 lbs per year for SAY 15 yrs. That's a total of 32.5 lbs extra fibre for life time of one animal. In a fibre business, if U had a herd of 100 animals, that would be 250 lbs/year and is 3250 lbs of fibre for the 100 animals life span. Now there are other variables as the shorter fleeced alpacas neck fibre is basically about 1 inch long and not processible for yarn. Where on a longer fleeced animal there is 2 to 3+ lbs of yarn processible fibre. So this could be a much larger spread. Look at Ziba's consistency of fibre length on body and neck before 2022 shearing. I see some Judges are now starting to reward and recognize this.
