NOT FOR SALE RETIRED FROM BREEDING
Vito has a fine bright fleece, butter soft with crimp from his nose to his toes. He has magnificent coverage and a density that is really remarkable. He has stunning conformation and a gorgeous, typey head. He also is a gentle soul with a sweet disposition. Vito uniformly throws his density and well organized lock structure. We have a splendid variety of colors in Vito offspring - he tends to throw the dam's color although not in every case and he throws that teddy bear head about 50% of the time. All of the offspring I have seen have his very correct conformation and "nose to toes" fleece coverage and...well...we just have an awful lot of satisfied customers.
Show Record Information
Vito had a very successful show career. He never placed lower than third in any halter class he entered and never lower than second in the two national fleece shows he entered. His fleece shorn at 66 months was awarded Color Champion at the prestigious Great Western Alpaca Show in Denver (May, 2010) The judge commented on how well he is holding his micron as well as how well structured and consistent his fleece is. Most recently at the AOA National Fleece Show, he was awarded 19 out of 20 points for fineness and handle on a fleece shorn at eleven and half years! Still winning ribbons after all these years. Show information is available here as well as through the AOA web site.
When using show results as a criteria for choosing stud services or purchases, we strongly encourage you to consider the whole equation. Look at the size of the show, the level of experience of the judge(s), the size of the class in question and the show experience of the other breeders competing in the class. Not all blue ribbons are created equal. We are very proud of Vito's show record, but he has a second place ribbon that I am just as proud of as all of his championship ribbons.
Show results should be considered only one tool to be used in judging the quality of any alpaca.

We are so excited to have this awesome example of a harlequin girl in our foundation herd! Calliope is a champion grey. She sports great confirmation on top of her exquisite fleece. Her speckled face is sure to catch your eye and definitely makes her stand out in herd.
We chose to add her to our herd, not only for her outstanding qualities, but for her superb ability for producing both winning and spotted offspring.
Congratulations to Clearview Alpaca Farm - Calliope will be living the life of luxury and enjoying retirement. We're excited to retain two of her spotted daughters as part of our foundation herd.

Description
Sometimes the stars align to grant you access or in this case ownership to something not only special but something that perfectly fits your goals. To continue to produce improvement in appy/harlequin fleece and conformation. Another boy that I purchased from my dear friend Kitt Hollister in Sept of 2021. Kubota is the bomb and we are SO excited to have him. He brings with him a solid bone and exquisite conformation - big and bold but sweet and even tempered.
Kitt describes him like this: "How awesome is 'Bota? Well, let's start with his lineage, since that was what really hooked me. His sire, Altair's Vito, is a multiple-champion and proven champion producer. Even more impressive than that is the fact that one of these championships was for fleece … At GWAS – one of the largest shows in the country … For his 66 month fleece! A son of CL9 Altair, Vito's genetics are uncommon on the east coast, and he is a total outcross to all of our herd. It was 'Bota's dam, though, that really caught my attention. A classic harlequin, Calliope had also taken a color championship – for her solid grey fleece – at GWAS. Her lineage traces back to one of the best true appaloosas of all time, Curly Calib, a descendent of the great Peruvian Platinum. So: Fleece champion, bred to fleece champion – we are stacking the deck in favor of some serious prepotency for killer fleece.
Not shockingly, “killer fleece” is one of 'Bota's defining characteristics. He is possessed of terrific brightness, excellent fineness (16.6 AFD on his first shearing) and uniformity. His biopsy results confirm this (please see "Histogram" page). He has a high-frequency, high-amplitude crimp style which is consistent throughout his blanket, and excellent fleece organization. His fleece is abundant, with great apparent density despite his fineness. His fleece has been shown three times and received a blue ribbon each time.
Not that the rest of him wouldn't rock the show ring as well. In addition to his fleece, Kubota is a solidly-built, stocky boy with heavy bone and terrific substance. His conformation is perfect. He has the heavyset, compact build that I find most ideal in alpacas, with an ideal tie of his neck and shoulder and flowing lines. His coverage is outrageous – he has fiber absolutely everywhere on his body, including his toes and his muzzle – and he has a beautiful, typey head."
A proven boy with spots on the ground. We love him.
