Most appaloosa herds are built. Well...unless you have about $100,000+ to go out and buy one. Even then, there aren't alot of them for sale out there. To start building one, pick out one or two and start breeding/building. Wait, this is starting to sound like a blog post. So much to say about this guy. Confetti is a rare line of appaloosa. I *think* he is his own line of appaloosa. I believe he inherited the gene from his dam. And he is not doing bad for a 'pop-up' appaloosa. They all had to start somewhere, right? And he is producing right at 50% for passing on those spotty genes. When he produces spots, boy does he produce spots! We have had him for 4 years now, before we got him he produced 3 solid crias from 3 solid dams and 2 spotted ones from one solid dam and one appy dam. Enchanted Hill Icon and Enchanted Hill Appy-Go-Lucky, respectively. When Confetti hits the target, he hits it out of the ballpark! On our farm, we have retained every cria he has sired. We are a small farm so the numbers are not large, but that adds to the fact that he retains a rare bloodline that can be used on every appaloosa farm out there. We have 4 female cria. Two daddy look a likes out of a black dam, one classic appaloosa out of a classic dam, and one white out of a white dam. This fall his first cria for us, Bijou, had an appaloosa female cria that is utterly gorgeous, Black Opal. Confetti is a compact male, full Peruvian, with good bone. He is excellent on lead. I can go out into the pasture and halter him, tie him to a post and trim his toenails by myself. His genetics are over 60% of my female herd now and I need to diversify my bloodlines a little. I do not have a genetic tree going, its more like a stick but its a very nice stick. :) Oh! and he can produce elite fleeced alpacas. His cria out of Chiquita last year, Rita, just tested at 14.7 micron for her cria fleece! Interested in raising appaloosas? Confetti can put you in that direction. Confetti likes apples. Confetti likes cucumbers. And Confetti really likes that his pasture is next to the garden.

Dam: Illini's Minnow

unusual harlequin!

Illini's Minnow

HuacayaBred (Female)Medium Brown, Light Silver Grey
AOA# 35311133DOB: 9/15/20159 yrs
Minnow is a very unique harlequin appaloosa. She had a dramatic color change on her first shearing. She is a small, compact medium boned girl with an adorable, nosy personality. She gets her spots from both sides of her pedigree with Maria's Angel being her grand dam and Spotted Fox her sire. We are happy to have her in our foundation herd and look forward to her first cria in 2018. She has been bred to Confetti for a Sept cria. Update 11-2018 Minnow had what appears to be a fawn male cria we have named Catfish. We will keep our eye on this little guy because he looks amazingly like Minnow did as a cria and she was a late bloomer. Either way, he is a very nice boy and we have repeated the breeding.

Description

Holy Moly. When Tammy Duensing offered Vick Sutton (Wooley beast) and I a wildly spotted son out of Confetti - we jumped. Confetti has such a strong and impactful spotted career, I might even graduate him to iconic status in the harley world. Jack took right after both Dad and Mom - two spotted parents.. and a bit wild they both are. Jack has a classic harley look but with some added "wild card" patterning. This is interesting to us. LOL We also love his fiber traits... for a harley at two plus years given the wild variation in his fleece.... this is highly respectable 21.1 micron AFD 4.7SD 4 year histo: 22.3/5.0 Holding his own. We also love his strong conformation traits. This boy is straight, well proportioned and well put together in every way. Jack jumped out of his little boy shell at the end of the 2021 season and we bred him to our girl Magical Maggie. Is Jack homozygous? I sort of suspect he is given the color traits he is displaying from both mom and dad...... But alas - we shall see. More girls for Jack!!!! Jack will get a stab at some solid females this year (2024) and we look forward to the outcome. Keep the Confetti train moving I say!
