From early on Bon Jovi exhibited a beautifully, soft, bright white fleece that has stayed extremely fine, with lots of bundles densely packed onto a conformationally perfect and well-balanced frame. Crimp everywhere with fiber down to his toes. He has an awesome-looking head, very level topline, perfect bite/jaw set, and outstanding substance of bone. His first cria are on the ground (we are thrilled) and he is passing on his highly desirable fleece traits and phenotype to his offspring. We have been thrilled with and were VERY surprised and pleased with Bon Jovi's appearances at GWAS and the International Alpaca Odyssey (IAO) in 2014 where he took first place as a Yearling White Male and Reserve Color Championship in Cottage, first place in the Light Male Walking Fleece Show and second place just behind Snowmass Seventh Samurai in the Commercial Halter ring. Judges' comments praised Bon Jovi's combination of fineness with density, brightness of fleece, length of staple/fiber architecture, overall uniformity, and lack of guard hair moving across his blanket, through the shoulder area, and down his legs. I nearly passed out as he was praised for these fleece characteristics in both the Cottage and Commercial show rings and could not be more pleased with the comments from Peter Kennedy at GWAS. In his only show appearance in 2015, BJ won 1st place in the male 2YO class and then went on to win the color championship as well. He's sporting some very nice fleece stats at age 3 with an AFD of 17.7, 3.8 SD, CV of 21.5%, and .5 >30%. BJ's 2016 skin biopsy by Dr. Norm Evans confirmed some of what we were thinking in terms of density and uniformity. Email me for a copy of the biopsy results. February 2024 - Lilly, who has been bred ROCKSTAR's Renegade for a spring cria, will go on maternity leave on March 1st, 2024 Diamond 'Lil is a very special ROCKSTAR. Hailing from the notable genetic powerhouse Hummingherd Alpacas, Lilly (as we call her) has made a dramatic contribution to our herd representing that next generation of highly evolved fleeces we were so yearning for. The daughter of Eastwind's Snowstorm and Xanadu Diamond Dust, we knew we had something special. Lil is a sweetheart to handle and has great conformation, a level topline, and a perfect bite. Her uber-fine, bright white fleece as a yearling was amongst the densest we'd ever had on our farm. Lilly's 2017 cria, ROCKSTAR's Sweet Child of Mine, recently won the 2018 GWAS White Walking Fleece Color Championship! A wonderful surprise to us, but now looking at her skirted fleece I can see all how Lilly contributed to this very advanced blanket. She is so fine, uniform, and BRIGHT it's astonishing and arguably among the best fleece, we've produced on our farm. Sweetie went on to win the white fleece color championship and white walking fleece color championship at the 2018 Gold Country Gathering along with being named Judges Choice in the fleece show. Sweetie possesses those hallmark fleece traits of her dam such as sustained fineness, bright, bright fiber with gorgeous architecture, and long tightly bundled staples. Sweetie would move forward with her breeding career to deliver us a gorgeous male by our super-stud Silver Rose Overture - ROCKSTAR's High Voltage. Volt has enjoyed a marvelous show career earning his 7th banner this spring (2023).
