September 1, 2021 Neversummer's US Steel is for sale and is now available. We have kept back several of his offspring and it's now time for him to focus on another herd. SERIOUS INQUIRES ONLY! Gold Country Gathering 2019 Silver Spice, a Neversummer's US Steel daughter wins both Judge's Choice and Spirit of the Industry Award! Neversummer’s US Steel! 2018, 2017 and 2016 Herdsire of the Year! As of January 2018 Neversummer's US Steel will be permanently residing full time at Starshire Ranch! Love, love, love this guy, his stats, his offspring... Love everything about him! Steel is so very fine! He has also inherited his sire's trademark silky handle. As he matured, Steel's uniformity and retained fineness brought him to the very top of his extremely competitive classes in the ring. The judges consistently commented on his extreme fineness and soft handle and now his histogram numbers fully support this. Steel is a handsome male with an excellent breeding background and has matured into an elite macho, who has produced champion offspring of his own! Steel's dam, Crescent Moon's Starbright is a lovely Rayo Del Sol daughter who was a blue ribbon winner and a reserve champion in the ring herself. She was a gentle female and proved to be a topnotch breeder and mother. At 6 yrs of age, Starbright's fleece was still 21 microns. Steel continued his show career just months before his 3rd birthday at the 2012 Futurity placing 1st in a competitive class under judge Peter Kennedy. At the 2012 GWAS he was 1st and Reserve Color and the oldest male in his class at 34.7 months and Judge Jude Anderson commented on his fineness, uniformity of color and beautiful fleece character that is still being retained at his age. This is truly remarkable for a male just shy of 36 months to be so competitive in a class of 48 grey males! The color champion was rose grey, so Steel was the best silver grey male at this show! Although winning and ribbons are fun and good, but the true test of a great herdsire is in his offspring. Once more Steel continues to shine both in the brightness, fineness and soft silky handle of his offspring's fleece as well as the beautiful look he stamps on each offspring!

Aerie had a unique grey coloring -- the lavender-grey of of early morning light across the Rockies. Her fiber was very fine with great uniformity and consistency between the light and dark fibers. Her crimp, a low amplitude / high frequency that gave lively energy to yarn made from it. This is not surprising, as the granddaughter of ATV Addonnis, 14x Champion in his day (which was amazing in that time!)! She was bred to Mile High Deacon Grey, 14x Champion grey male for her first cria! We were so excited that she produced a lavender grey girl in her spitting image (well, except for her definitive brown leg!) Gracie was slow to embrace breeding, but now produces lovely grey offspring herself! Aerie was bred to another great grey male for a 2015 black girl, our lovely Primrose. Primrose is one close to our heart and will likely stay at our farm for her life. On top of it, she makes wonderful fibered crias! For her 2016 cria, she produced a classic rose grey girl from Avatar. This one is the best yet! We named her Loraleigh. Loraleigh has gone on to produce her own grey cria, namely our regal rose grey male, Reposado. When bred to the stunning Granite's Bay Royal Steel she produced a lovely DRG male. If you have not seen Steel in person, put your hands on his fleece, you should! He has 'all that' in fineness, shine, crimp, organization, density, and LOTS of coverage. His CMRG boy by Aerie was a little off the mark but had great fineness and shine. Siderite has moved on to his own future at another farm. She followed this by a beautiful silver grey boy sired by US Steel, that we named American Ultra and added to our herdsire row. Last but not least, she gave us our Lilac Bloom. But, giving her a year off last year, we didn't know this was to be her last. She passed away suddenly, one day the picture of health and the next day slipped away quietly from what a vet has said is indicative of heart attack. We are immensely sad to lose our quiet and calm Aerie and hope she is enjoying green fields where she is at.

Description

Love this male for his fiber -- spectacular in his crimp, uniformity, shine, density and color. Cannot wait to see what he produces. The uniformity in this boy is fantastic for classic true silver grey!
