Smoking Gun is a beautiful medium silver grey, sired by 3 Time Herdsire of the Year, Neversummer's US Steel. His dam is a Vantaggio by Bisturi daughter-- and what a cross this is! Smoky is a fantastic sire, with excellent fineness and high frequency crimp that glows. He has nicely shaped small ears and a perfect bite. Smoking Gun placed 2nd at futurity and only made age cut off by a couple days. In addition to his incredible fleece, Smoky has the sweetest of dispositions. He sired two beautiful girl crias Check out Smoky's Gem, and RainbowRanch's Summer Solstice. Liberty Bell was our very first alpaca, a gift from Arroyo Seco Alpacas. What a beautiful baby born on fourth of July, hence the name Liberty Bell. For the first several years we had to travel to Cheyenne, Wy just to be with her but now she is with us everyday. She is a light Fawn and her first cria is Maggie, a medium fawn. Her second cria is a fading light fawn, beautiful girl named Topaz born on June 17, 2017. Then on 6/26/2019 she gave birth to a beautiful girl sired by Smoky, named Gem. Her 2021 Cria is Summer Solstice, yep born on June 20th, another girl sired by Smoky. Then 3 days before Liberty Bell's birthday, she delivered yet another girl, named Maggie II. Maggie's sire is none other than Apache Gentlemen's Alchesay. This breeding was to improve the quality of fiber, in our herd and so far looking like it was a success.

Alchesay was sired by Apache Gentlemen's, who has produced many stunning appaloosa cria. Alchesay's dam is Alpaca Rainbow Ranch's Valentine, and she has won a Banner and blue ribbons at shows. The combination of these two alpacas, gave us Alchesay and he had proven to be a Champion himself. Alchesay has turned out to be our lead herdsire, here at Alpaca Rainbow Ranch, and had 4 cria in 2023, and has had 4 cria this year with one more on its way. Next year we are hoping for 9 cria from Alchesay, with several ranches that have brought in dams to breed with him. We are proud of the quality of the fiber on these offspring, thanks to Alchesay's quality throughout his fiber. Alchesay's phenotype stands out from the others, his fleece has crimp throughout with a strong consistency of the fiber in his blanket.
