Northern Mystery's Heracles

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Light Brown, True Black

Heracles absolutely floored us all when he was born. Solid medium brown— the same shade as his Dam Eos's spots— with a single dark steel grey spot on his lower hind leg, black freckles throughout his fleece, and tight popcorn curls absolutely everywhere. We couldn't have expected a better result out of our Eos and Nero pairing. Heracles is easily one of the nicest males we have ever produced. He is robust, compact and upright, with his sire's noble carriage and flashy movement style. He has the strong bone structure we enjoy seeing in our animals— he has mass without being bulky. We just love Heracles' fibre. He has an extremely bright, nicely organized fleece with a lovely amount of density, especially given how fine he is. He has a high frequency, medium amplitude crimp style with coverage to spare. His fibre feels like silk, no matter where on his body you handle him, with areas such as his legs and apron feeling just as nice as his blanket. The crimp in his fleece extends up his neck, into his cheeks and topknot— and down onto his legs and over his lower belly. As he has matured, he continues to produce a long-stapled, organized, and highly fine fleece, sharing his sire's propensity for lingering fineness. With his first fleece measuring in at 15.3 microns, 4 years later he has only just hit 20 microns with a 96% Comfort factor. We started putting Heracles to females in the summer of 2020, with his first cria hitting the ground in 2021. Nemios is a carbon copy of his sire in phenotype, displaying the same uniformity of colour, extreme coverage with a deep, true to type head style, soft, fine handle, textbook conformation and excellent temperament. The two are nearly indistinguishable in the pasture, and we are very excited to give Heracles more work now that he is proven out.

Caley's Zoya

HuacayaOpen (Female)Medium Fawn, Light Brown
AOA# 35030867, CLAA# 47003DOB: 6/6/201410 yrs
Zoya is a robust, correct, and just all around good looking female who bears a strong resemblance to her late, great grandfather General Ledger. Her pedigree reads like a wish-list of great progenitors, with Hemingway, Caligula, Pistachio, Purrumbete's Ledgers Dream and NGG Lionel topping the list.
As a whole, she displays a very pleasingly soft handle on the abundance of mocha-fawn fleece that she produces. Not lacking in the coverage department, her usable fleece extends into the upper leg and well into her neck, and is a pleasure to work with.
Zoya is proving herself to be an excellent dam and aunty, with an abundance of milk and plenty of mothering ability. She has a stubborn streak, but is absolutely sweet and is popular for PR work, especially with children. She produced a lovely little male in 2018, with whom it is evident that her substance of bone, minimally-fading colour and coverage runs true.

Description

Nemios is an eye catching male. Heavily muscled, and displaying a correct, square frame with good substance of bone, well sprung ribs, and balanced movement, he is a delight to look at and nearly identical to his sire, Heracles. He carries an abundance of ultra-soft, fine, uniform fleece across his body, with exceptional coverage. He has a sweet, conscientious nature and is pleasant to work with and be around. Sired by Northern Mystery's Heracles, whose line includes names such as Peruvian Captain Nemo, and Acero Marka's Rockamundo, Nemios has a deep genetic pool to draw from for traits in lingering fineness, abundant coverage, and reduced medullation. Hemingway-Accoyo Nautilus, Accoyo America Diomedes, and Tell Misty High Ledge can be found in his maternal lines, contributing to his solid conformation, uniformity and length. Both of his parents are known for their robust health, displaying exceptional parasite resistance with no difficulty in the conditioning department. Both his dam and paternal grand-dam are heavy milkers with excellent mothering abilities. Colour runs deep in both sides of Nemios' pedigree, with him presenting as a solid, minimally fading dark fawn with some small, brown spots and no white, he should be capable of producing not only colour but patterns as well, with him carrying the genes for unusual dark spotting through the Caligula and Captain Nemo lines, in addition to the possibility of producing speckled pinto (pintaloosa patterning) through his grand-dam, if paired just right. Although his own spots are dark brown, they are placed in the same areas as his sire's own black spots. With no white spots of his own, the possibilities of what he could produce are exciting.
