Calliope is a very special girl and we are so glad to welcome her to Honey Maple Farms! We had seen her pictures online, but when we finally saw her in person...WOW!!! She is a classic grey with soft, fine fleece and she has maroon tips when she is in full fleece. Just stunning!! Now that she is a bit older, Calliope's fleece has taken on a lovely "lavender" sheen. Our son remarked, "I didn't know they made purple alpacas." Well, she is not exactly purple, but she IS beautiful to behold! Calliope was an excellent choice foundation female for us as we pursue a grey line. All this beauty and excellent fleece stats as well. Check out her histogram! Calliope delivered a nice surprise for us on June 18.. a gorgeous brown GIRL!!! She was a little peanut at 13.6 pounds, but she sure is growing fast. This female has beautiful coloring...medium brown/grey undertones with black ears and nose. She was grey from the knees down for the first few days, but has become more uniform in her coloring now in a weeks' time. We will be watching her with great interest to see if her colors change any more. She is really beautiful!!

This little female came as a double surprise! First, there were no signs of an impending birth when we gave mom, Calliope, a check late one morning, but there was Elli just few hours later. Next, HER COLOR! We were definately NOT expecting that dark color like her sire, since her dam is classic grey and MidKnight Rider has produced some really nice grey crias, but that is exactly her color...brown/black. Elliquence is a mini version of MidKnight Rider, though not a bay black--yet!...Gorgeous medium brown fleece, with a black nose and ears. She was grey from the knees down at birth, but that has blended into medium brown now. She exhibits nice lock structure and her density is more apparent each day. We can't wait to see how this girl grows up!! _______________________________________ *October 2021 Update* Elli's color has evened out to medium brown with black tips on her ears ,eyes and nose. We have 2 crias with that same coloring this year! And WOW--has she packed on some fleece in the past month! Her density is becoming more apparent, even with her lock style being a little more flat with twisted ends. Elli is a petite girl and I fear that she is putting so much energy into her fleece that she is forgetting to keep growing! She is a darling, so curious and full of energy..one of my favorite personalities! SPRING 2022--Elli is turning into one amazing little girl! Her fleece keeps getting more and more dense over time and she is starting to look like her sire did as a youngster (when he won his championship..hint, hint.) For a smaller female, she has got a TON of fleece. Her lock structure has changed....AGAIN....and she has developed some very nicely organized locks, just full of LUSTER. She has a gorgeous chocolatey brown color now. Oh my! We are keeping a close eye on Elli--the changes are so fun to discover every time we open her fleece!!! DEC 2024 We need some barn space, so we are now offering Elli for sale. She is a beautiful 3 year-old with lovely fleece, and she is ready to breed!! She is offered with a herd sire breeding of YOUR CHOICE! At this price, you can't go wrong. She has great potential for throwing grey offspring, as her dam is grey, and her sire, Midnight Rider, has produced MANY spectacular greys..(See our own grey boy, Silverknight!)
