LC was an alpha male - the leader of the pack . . . er, boy's herd. He brought home awards from fleece shows demonstrating the quality of his luxurious black fiber. LC's fleece was noted for its handle, uniformness, fineness and crimp. It received high marks for the consistency of its 21.5 micron thickness (at age 2), staple length, color and crimp. The 6 to 7 waves per inch displayed in LC's high frequency, low amplitude crimp ran from the middle of his neck to half way down his hind legs. A real ladies man, at least to his own way of thinking, LC would pace the fence for hours just for a look at a girl. He serviced dams from multiple herds. Thus as a herdsire in demand, he was our biggest money maker when it came to stud fees. He sired 6 cria, some of which went on to win their own awards. LC was a first generation offspring of two alpacas imported directly from Chile in 1998.

Onyx was a gentle soul; she had a soothing demeanor and was a pleasure to be around. She was a good mother to her 7 cria. Onyx was vigilant, constantly on alert for unknown activity that might threaten her herd and the first to issue an alarm call to elicit a response from the Great Pyrenees herd guardians. Her black fleece was excellent for use in textiles with a relaxed, low amplitude, low frequency crimp. The handle of her fleece was described as "tender". We use it for durable products including yarn and hand woven rugs.
