Apache was a cornerstone of our herd for over five years. He now has 41 registered offspring many of which are in our Rare Gem herd. Follow the links below to view his amazing, colorFULL progeny. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Oh, my oh my! Apache is a proven herdsire with 28 cria on the ground! Sometimes words just aren't enough. If you are looking for an appaloosa harlequin stud to cover your girls and create something truly unique, look no further. This boy has it all! Apache's pedigree is packed (on both sides) with outstanding appaloosas and harlequins. It is highly probable that Apache is homozygous meaning you do not have to breed him to another harlequin or appaloosa to get a good chance of producing an appaloosa / harlequin offspring. A definite plus for those breeding for spots. With 28 offspring now sired by Apache, we have a pretty good picture of his expressivity. Of the 28 offspring on the ground (December 2021), 27 of the dams were solid colored (not appaloosa or harlequin). All but 2 of the 27 offspring are either classic appaloosa or harlequin. That is an expression rate of 93%! Ironically, the one appaloosa female that Apache was bred to threw a solid. Apache is as sure of a bet as you can get when looking for these uniquely colored / patterned alpacas. Apache's sire, Windspun WSA Patriotic Gentleman, is an appaloosa as well. He's a blue ribbon winning male that sports a beautiful fleece and strong confirmation. Patriotic Gentleman's sire is the multi-champion Hobby Horse Farm Great Expecations making his grandsire the well-known SA Peruvian Black Epic. Apache's dam, Excelsior's High Voltage Tazer, has an equally impressive background. She's the harlequin daughter of two very well-known appaloosas - NWA/Hearsum Paulo and Cookies and Cream. In May 2021, Apache's appaloosa offspring took 2nd Place - Get of Sire at CABA. UPDATE: For the first time ever, this highly expressive stud will be made available Summer of 2022. We work with international buyers and can guide you through the process. If interested, please don't wait... contact us now!

Dam: Forget Me Not

Proven Harlequin Producer

Forget Me Not

HuacayaOpen (Female)Light Fawn
AOA# 35058991DOB: 9/11/201410 yrs
Forget Me Not joined the Rare Gem Herd in September 2018. She exhibits all the qualities that we look for... fineness, density, fleece character, disposition... oh... I won't bore you with our long list! We love her and are very excited to see what she can do in our program. Forget Me Not was bred to the wildly spotted appaloosa harlequin, Apache Gentleman. This pairing brings a nice fusion of sought after appaloosa genetics (Forget Me Not also carries Peruvian Platinum on her father’s side). The result was a gorgeous harlequin appaloosa female whom we have named Apache's Polka-hontis. "Hona", as we call her, was born prematurely but is doing great. We have repeated the breeding for a 2021 cria. We hope for a repeat... other than the timing. Going for a full gestation this round! What else to be excited about? Don't forget her 8X champion sire, Derwydd Luciano's Totora, producer of champions and known to throw color when bred to color!

Description

Temi! We named her Temulin after Genghis Kahn's sister because this little girl is tough. The vet was shocked that she was alive when he pulled her out. She was 12 lbs and very weak. Everything took her a little longer to get the hang of but she fought her way through it like a champ. She is very bossy - by 3 months old she was pushing her mom out of the way at food time! Her fleece is beyond what we hoped for, we'll be getting it tested this year. After shearing some of her fawn spots have turned black and she has some gray blotches poking through - she may end up looking like daddy! Woot!
