First Mate is a handsome male with a well-defined fleece structure that is uniform throughout. He sports a solid blanket that is extremely bright and fine with a high frequency crimp style. At his first show (March 2019), he took Color Champion in both Halter (of 17) and Walking Fleece (of 33)! First Mate is the son of multi-banner winning sire, FTAF's Privateer, who's fiber stats are AFD 20.9, SD 3.9, CV 18.5, %>30=2% at age 6. Privateer's fleece is that "elite" fleece with bundles everywhere and secondary bundles coming out of each bundle, even down to his knee and under his belly and on his chest. This breeding male is aging gracefully and retaining his fineness and uniformity and passing along these characteristics to his offspring such as First Mate! AND the majority of the time, he throws the color of the dam!!! It should also be noted that grandsire, true black SHVN The Buccaneer, took his 13th banner at 7 years old! Sire's skin biopsy results from 2017 (at 5yrs old by Dr. Norm Evans): Density of 71 follicles/sqmm. SP ratio is 12.1 to 1 with level 4 of 4 gland presence which correlates with what senior judges are referring to as “well-nourished fleeces”. Secondary fibers average 21.9 microns and primary fibers averaging 30.1 giving him a variation of only 8.2 microns. And dam, Trixiebelle, is no slouch! She has an awesome pedigree including grandsire-- the legendary SA Peruvian Black Epic, 7X banner winner and sire of offspring with over 150 champion wins. First Mate's manner is mild, just like his sire's. Always a pleasure! He stands tall and proud with thick tree trunk legs. He has settled his first females and is ready to make and outstanding contribution to your breeding program.

UPDATE: Bodie had a vaginal prolapse on her last pregnancy so we have decided to retire her from the breeding program. If you think you are a good, non-breeding home for Bodie, please let us know. She has a super, quirky out-going personality. She is a fun one to have around the farm. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Just wow to how this girl's fleece is maturing, we are thrilled with beautiful Bodacia. And what an unusual color - she has silver spots in that fleece - plus a grey leg - and beautiful crimpy curls! Super conformation - strong and bouncy. Shorn she reveals a lovely silver garland - just beautiful! Look at these fun pictures - have you ever seen anything like Bodacia? Now figure in her pedigree and look at that fleece. Oh - and she's nearly full Peruvian (15/16ths) for anyone counting. Bodie's sire is "Ike" - KVR's Peruvian True Eye Candy, 9X banner winner - closed breedings. Please "click" on his link above for more information on this truly amazing herdsire. Bodie's mom is a top ribbon winning, classic silver grey that threw a beautiful harlequin-- Tennessee Valley Tia!

Description

Handsome son of lavender grey herdsire, 3X color champion, Rare Gem Privateer's First Mate, and true black dam, Delphi's Bodacia "Bodie". Bodie is the daughter of Judges Choice and 9X grey color champion-- KVRs Peruvian True Eye Candy. From GSire, IKE's page... JUDGE'S CHOICE WINNER FOR FLEECE!! Ike's advanced Judge's Choice fleece, which scored 87 points - puts him in a very very small class of elite classic gray herd sires. In halter, he was awarded Color Champion at arguably the toughest halter show in the country, the Futurity. is a US Steel daughter so this boy's pedigree is packed with grey genetics. Update: Bada Bing has settled his first female. For those looking to breed elite-fleeced greys and black, Bada Bing would be a great addition to your program!
