Pennyroyal Rose is a stellar young male who represents one of the magic crosses of the alpaca industry. A magic cross -- better known as a "nic" in the horse world -- is when a particular sire crosses exceptionally well over the daughters of another sire. In this case, Penn's sire -- Snowmass Royal Rose, a son of Hemingway out of a tuxedo rose grey Bueno daughter -- was known to produce exceptional offspring when bred to daughters of Snowmass Legacy Gold, Penn's grandsire through his dam, TGF Tinker Bella. Penn's 3/4 sisters out of that cross include Snowmass Golden Rose (the dam of Matrix Rose); Snowmass Rroyal Stars (4th densest alpaca biopsied by Ian Watt, just shy of 80 follicles per sq/mm - S:P of 13:1); Snowmass Royal Lace (8x CH foundation female for Snowmass); and 9x CH CCNF Royal Magnus. Those are only a few, but they're pretty darn good, right? We also cannot really say that Penn's dam, Tinker Bella, is "just any" Legacy Gold daughter, either. She is a stunning animal in her own right, and her dam, Snowmass Adorabella, is an Accoyocusani daughter whose other offspring include multiple champions TGF Royal Tribute and TGF Apocalypse. Adorabella is a powerhouse. All of this brings us to Penn. Penn is a stocky boy who looks an awful lot like his sire. He has good conformation and excellent circumference of bone. His chest and hips are wide, his ribs well-sprung, and his neck thick and powerful. He is a robust, athletic male with excellent muscling. His type is beautiful, with a lovely head and topknot and extensive fleece coverage. Like his famed siblings, Penn's fleece is exceptionally dense. I do not normally like to assume density by feel, but this is one where there is no question. His fleece is difficult to part. He has a high-amplitude, medium-frequency crimp which is consistent through his blanket, and he has very good fineness. Last but definitely not least in our program, this guy has an ideal temperament. Some may scoff that I'm bringing up temperament in the writeup of an animal with the genetic lineup that Penn has, but I take disposition very seriously. Penn is outgoing and friendly with humans, yet calm and easy to work with in-hand. He is extremely confident with other alpacas -- he's a dominant male in his group -- but he is not a bully. Penn has a white patch on his forehead. My hypothesis is that it may have come from his paternal granddam, who was a classic (tuxedo) grey, as, to my knowledge, none of the other animals in his lineage carry the white spot gene. Hemingway and, in turn, Royal Rose himself were not known for allowing grey to be expressed. I am hopeful that Penn's white spot may indicate that he carries the tuxedo gene. Penn has settled his first female, and I have decided to set a stud fee for him early, based on the fact that so many of his 3/4 siblings have been powerful producers. It is likely to only go up once his first cria hit the ground.

Michelangelo's Awakening

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Dark Brown
AOA# 32680997DOB: 8/10/201311 yrs
We are thrilled to offer Michelangelo's Awakening as a herd sire. He is an established sire of show winning off-spring who often produces gray. We can generally count on Awakening to infuse his cria with superb fineness, density, coverage, and gorgeous phenotype.. They are cute as can be, square, and healthy! Awakening tends to produce the color of the dam. As an example, please note the photos of Broken Halo and his fleece. He is a fine example of what Awakening produces. We co-own Awakening with Mark and Mara DeBoe of River Falls Wisconsin, Wibotawot Farm. Show winnings and Judges comments: Awakening does it again at Minnesota Alpaca Expo. 1st place out of a class of 8 dark brown juvie males and a Reserve Championship. Judge Peter Kennedy comments, “At 7 months of age he is beautifully grown, very balanced showing a great level of maturity. He is extremely fine, very well organized, beautiful level of brightness with the level of organization, very uniform in his micron. Beautiful softness of hand, a great deal of density overall.” At AOA Nationals 2014 he took a 1st Place out of a class of 9 dark brown juvenile males. Judge Diana Timmerman comments, "He has a super fine fleece, it has incredible brightness and is very well nourished. It shows excellent architecture throughout and the character extends the length of the staple, it is also evident all the way through and all those characteristics give him great density." At the Railsplitter Alpaca show "Wake" took a 1st place out of a class of 6 brown juvenile males and the Color Championship for brown males. Judge Peter Kennedy commentts, “Showing a great level of maturity for his age with a beautiful level of coverage. Very true to type. The fleece is extremely fine showing excellent amplitude with his high frequency crimp style through his entire blanket and everywhere I looked it was all the same. Very well organized and great density. It is opening up very cleanly and is very bright, with a beautiful soft hand.”

Description

Chloe is a nice sized stocky girl! She is medium brown with black ears and nose. She has the pretty feathery ears! She is out of a true black female that throws the color of the sire she is bred too. Hoping the same for Chloe! She will be bred to a champion sire this May 2021! Sire to be decided. I see her making some very nice fibered crias! She'll make a great foundation female.
