We knew this guy was special from the moment we saw him and we thought and thought about a special name for him. We wanted to keep with the Widmer's tradition of incorporating a Z for this line, and we finally came up with the perfect name, Harazim. Harazim is actually my "real" maiden name. It is what is on my grandfather's birth certificate. When he came over from The Ukraine in the early 1900s, his name was changed to Harrison apparently because Harazim was difficult to pronounce. We thought it would be great to bring the real name back with this spectacular little guy. And he really is spectacular! Harazim is, by far, the densest cria we produced out of the 22 we had this year. He is, perhaps, the densest cria we have ever produced! We can't wait to get a weight on his first shearing. In addition to density this guy has need-your-sunglasses brightness. His coverage is awesome and his fleece length impressive. He has an unbelievably buttery handle, and again, we can't wait to do a micron on him. His sire, Accoyo Cuba Libre has a 16.4 micron, and his dam, Accoyo Zahara continues to have impressive micron numbers in each and every category - even as she matures. In fact, we sold Zahara's fleece to Our Back Forty this past year. When Pam Pullins was working with it, she posted on facebook that it was some of the nicest fleece she's ever worked with. Harazim is a rich, dark fawn full Accoyo with lineage to brag about. His sire, our own, Double Stuff's Accoyo Cuba Libre, is a multi-ribbon male out of Express and a Leon daughter. Harazim's dam is out of Accoyo America Centurion (thus El Nino and Caligula) and also has Legacy and Astillero in her pedigree. We really think this little guy is something special.
