Ganymede will be at AMAF in NY again this Summer! BEEN THINKING ABOUT IT, BUT VA TOO FAR TO GO? Contact us to discuss getting a breeding in VA, NY, or TX. Time is running out to purchase a breeding to Ganymede, the 2017 AOA Nat’l Supreme Champion. Color genotype: ee Aa. Can produce black! He's making Champions & Judges Choice offspring!! Extraordinary Offspring: CNTRL Ganymede's Hannah B, has 22 Championships and 4 Judges Choice awards competing as a fawn female -AND- she is the 2021/22 #5 female in the Nation!! AMAF Islamadora, has 20 Championships, including the 2024 AOA National Championship, and received her first Judges Choice award as a yearling in Fall of 2023! StrongShepherd Juno, is a 16x Champion & JC male, and CCNF (arguably the top breeding farm in the country) purchased half-interest in this incredible male to bring different genetics into their herd! "This male shows extremely strong fiber traits that should be passed to his offspring...Bred to top notch females, you should expect many champions." -- Comments from Dr. Norm Evans' biopsy report SKIN BIOPSY was performed at 30 months of age by Dr. Norm Evans in December 2017. Of note, his 15x scan shows large fiber clusters uniform in shape and placement within his connective tissue. His scan shows only 4 guard type hairs from the 6800+ fibers in his 10 MM tissue punch. His true density is 86.75 follicles per SQ MM of skin. He shows a level 2 of 4 gland structure, with an average S/P ratio of 14.1 to 1, and only 11% of his secondary fibers are medullated which is rare since the average is near 60%. His 250x scan shows the presence of many round secondary fibers, and one hundred typical secondary fibers averaged 17.8 microns — at 30 months old!! According to Dr. Evans 30 months is the recommended age for skin biopsies and gives the most accurate values. Full report available upon request. While Ganymede’s breeding fee is firm, we can offer attractive discounts on any solely owned herdsire in a multiple breeding package. We also have females available that have already been bred to Ganymede or can be purchased with a future breeding to him. Please give us a call to discuss. Ganymede is Co-Owned with Rancho Inca Alpacas located in Navasota TX

Phenomenal girl...All we can say is Wow! She is better than we could have dreamed! Awww, Venus' & Ganymede's Spring 2024 cria arrived on 5/28/24 and she's a bright white beauty! More info on her coming soon. Her Spring 2023 cria arrived on 5/22/23 and he is a light fawn stunner! We have named him Centaurus. Venus produced her first cria on 10/16/20 from a breeding with Ganymede, the 2017 AOA National Supreme Champion, and 4X Judges Choice male...and we absolutely love what we got! It’s a white female that we named Adhara. We bred Venus back to Ganymede for an encore performance and she produced Adhara’s full sister, Carina, on 10/25/21! This is a winning combination! Now that we have three females and a gorgeous male out of Venus and Ganymede, we made the tough decision to breed her with one of our other spectacular studs. Part of me said not to change something that is working so well, but another part of me says we could end up with another female that could be bred back to Ganymede if we breed her to an unrelated male. Decisions, decisions…we decided to breed her to Man in the Moon’s Rigel. I think this will be equally good, but we can always go back to Ganymede next year. MMFA Venus Rising started her show career at the 2018 Showtacular/ NEAOBA/ Empire, and she walked away with two Reserve Color Championships--one of them in front of a Snowmass female and the other right behind CCNF! At the 2019 Heart of Virginia, she walked away with a full Color Championship in front of a beautiful Stillmeadow female. Kevin O'Leary said she is the "total package." She has absolutely stunning fleece. It has staple length, true matchstick bundling, incredible character, fineness, uniformity, and absolutely wonderful handle -- and, there's a lot of it! Venus is out of one of our top stud females, WP Elite Delilah, who is out of The Elite Maximus. Delilah is maintaining an 18 micron AFD at 5 years old! and while we haven't gotten a recent histogram, her fleece is amazing for her age and the number of crias she's had -- definitely one of the best fleeces on the farm. I feel sure her fleece is still less than 20 microns and it still has crimp and a wonderful handle. Venus' sire is none other than Snowmass Legend Rising, a multi-champion white male who garnered 4X Judges Choice awards. The sad news is that he unexpectedly passed in the Fall of 2018--much, much too soon. We had hoped to repeat this breeding. Note: MMFA offers its best pricing on packages of three or more alpacas. Let us know what you're looking for and we can help you find the right package within your budget.

Service Sire: Man in the Moon's Rigel

2023 AOA IFA Gr2 Color Champ @ 4 yr old!

Man in the Moon's Rigel

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Medium Fawn
AOA# 35379188DOB: 4/23/20195 yrs
This guy is programmed for pre-potency! Color coat testing = Ee AA, and…of the few progeny on the ground, he is fulfilling exactly what we thought he would and we can’t wait to get more of his progeny on the ground! Rigel won his 6th Championship at the 2023 AOA National IFA Fleece Show (measured AFD 20.1 micron) as Dark Color Champion at 4-years old! We know that his sire, CCNF Leviathan, has stamped out tons of champions. His dam, Stillmeadow Farm Bella’s Dream, has produced 4 champions thus far! So...this guy out of CCNF Leviathan and Stillmeadow Farm Bella's Dream is something pretty special! Rigel's fleece is amazingly bright with gorgeous crimp and uniformity across his blanket. He came into his own, as we thought he would — garnering championship’s at his 6 last shows! He took 1st, Color Champion, and Best Brightness in the 2023 IFA Fleece Show with a measured AFD of 20.1 from 4 locations in his blanket at 4 years old! He took 1st and Reserve Champion at 2020 VAOBA Expo under Judge Wade Gease in a “...highly impressive and competitive class.” Incidentally, the Champion was his older paternal brother! Rigel then took 1st and RC at 2021 PAOBA Breeders Showcase under Judge Helen Testa, beating out a fine young Val D Lsere offspring (yep—Val Thorens)! He also pulled down the 2021 PAOBA Walking Fleece Color Championship! At 2021 MAPACA, Rigel garnered two Color Championships! Rigel has a very nice head and boxy frame. His fleece is very uniform and carries all the way through his blanket and down into his extremities. Packed with these genetics and phenotype, we expect him to produce stellar offspring -- and thus far, he has! Rigel's sire, Leviathan, the son of CCNF Elixir and CCNF Capuchin, one of CCNF's top Snowmass Matrix Majesty daughters, got the attention of the entire staff at CCNF from almost the moment he was born, and is unarguably one of the top crias from their 2015 birth class. He sold to Stillmeadow Farm for an astounding $53K as a juvenile, at the 2016 Parade of Champions Auction. Leviathan went on to amass 10 Championships and a Judge's Choice Banner! We're pleased to announce that Man in the Moon's Rigel is now co-owned with Sunny Acres Alpacas of Ponte Vedra, FL! Contact us for breeding.

Description

So...Adhara will be staying in our foundation herd. We sold her as a yearling and we were able to purchase her back as a 2-year-old. We love her fiber qualities and spot-on conformation. Her fleece has developed nicely, and that spot doesn't bother us at all. With that fleece, we have a plan for Adhara! In looking at Adhara's fleece, it's a strong combination of everything good from her parents -- it has beautiful crimp and bundling with an extremely fine micron and wonderful handle. Adhara was shown as a yearling at the 2022 CAC/CAP Show, and she garnered first place in a Halter class of whites, even though she has that rather obvious fawn spot in her blanket, and she took third in a tough Walking Fleece class! I think the Judge was considering Adhara for a RC banner, but he just couldn't bring himself to do it because of that spot...it was obvious he liked both her fleece and conformation. Adhara's very promising as a step towards creating a highly evolved fleece character in a darker fleeced offspring! She'll be able to push color through. Can't wait to put her together with a darker herdsire! The decision will be whether to breed her to Man in the Moon's Rigel, a 5x Champion — see his webpage for more information, or our new herdsire, Irish Meadows Corteva (who has a Judge's Choice banner under his belt). I can assure you that the cria out of either of these multi-champion males will be amazing. We expect a high probability for a fawn cria of solid color with an absolutely phenomenal fleece! Well, we decided to go with Rigel, and she’s been confirmed pregnant by ultrasound! Can’t wait for this cria! Adhara did show at the 2021 MAPACA as a Juvie and she definitely got dinged for having the spot in her blanket, but Judge Wade Gease said he kept her in at 4th because of her bright fleece, fineness and her uniformity across the blanket—while mentioning that spot. Despite the spot, we repeated this breeding with hope for another little girl just like Adhara...minus the spot would be a bonus, but we'll take it either way with this high quality fleece! Adhara's full sibling arrived and her name is Carina! We bred their dam, Venus, back to their sire, Ganymede, for yet another full sibling. Can't wait to see him or her in Spring of 2023!…And wow!!! Adhara has a full brother, Centaurus, and he’s just amazing — perhaps the best yet from this pairing of Adhara’s dam and sire! Looking forward to the 2024 full sibling, and she arrived: Astra is her name and she’s stunning! P.S. Adhara is a star in the constellation Canus Majora
