Thank you, JLS Alpacas, for your purchase of Keltie and her gorgeous female cria, Keket! Keltie delivered a lovely black female cria on 9/23/23. Her cria's name is Keket -- a mythical goddess of darkness. Keket's sire is none other than 6X Champion (incl 2023 AOA IFA Fleece Champion + Best Brightness) Man in the Moon's Rigel. Rigel comes from lines with Matrix Majesty behind him and he's out of CCNF Leviathan, who has been an incredibly prepotent male. What a pleasant surprise that the pairing of Keltie and Rigel produced black! Keket is spunky and silky soft. It's very exciting to see that Keket's fleece is starting to develop a pronounced crimp style, too. I'm not exactly surprised knowing the fleece characteristics of both her dam and sire. The handle is amazing and her fleece is extremely fine. Can't wait to see how her fleece develops! We purchased Keltie at the 2015 Double O. Good auction. She was a head turner then and continues to be one of the most "showy" girls in the herd. Keltie is strong and solidly built. She has a very pleasing body style with gorgeous conformation, excellent size, great head, and heavy bone -- and full coverage fleece from her head down to her toes. She consistently has one of the heaviest cutting fleeces each year. We've come to love her quirky and inquisitive nature. She has proven to be a very good mom, with easy birthing and plenty of milk. Keltie's offspring thus far have been competitive in the show ring. We especially love Keltie's 2017 male offspring, Deimos (out of TGF Freestyle -- a Matrix Majesty line), who is a gorgeous dark fawn that garnered 1st Place and Best Bred & Owned as a yearling (19 months old) at the 2018 MAPACA show. He's been in more than one halter class where the judge indicated that every alpaca that placed had excellent fineness, character, and density, and that it was an extremely tough decision on placement. NOTE for OPENHERD AUCTION SALE: Auction reserve is set higher than price, as a fully executed contract is needed to complete the sale. Please give us a call or send an email if you're interested in any of our Openherd auction offers. MMFA offers its best pricing on packages of three or more alpacas. Let us know what you're looking for and we can help you find a group that meets your needs.

Description

Mira has solid bone, excellent fleece coverage, brightness, great density, and a very good staple length. She's also proven to be an attentive mom, and an easy birther with plenty of milk. And she has a couple of very well known gray's in her pedigree. Mira's sire, Patagonia's Lennox, is a well known and sought after multi-Color Champion herdsire, and with over 274 registered offspring, he has produced more champions than any other sire at Patagonia Estates. His sire is one of the direct Chilean imports, Danko. Mira's dam brings the genetics of Snowmass Nova, 5Peruvian Chaccu, Snowmass Peruvian Casanova, Peruvian Bueno, and PPeruvian Caligula. Mira has an interesting and quirky personality (she's actually quite fun and inquisitive), and she gets along well with her herd, but when it comes to people, she can be a little difficult - especially if you want to touch her! Despite this, she's one of those girls that everyone who comes to the farm is taken with due to her big eyes and personality. She'll come right up to check you out...but, when you reciprocate by putting your hand out, she responds by saying: "Please...don't touch me!" Mira will be bred to one of our excellent herd sires Spring 2023.
