Spirit is the product of appaloosas and harlequins from both sides of his family tree. His sire, Windspun WSA Patriotic Gentleman, is an appaloosa as well. He's a blue ribbon winning male that sports a beautiful fleece and strong confirmation. Patriotic Gentleman's sire is the multi-champion Hobby Horse Farm Great Expecations making his grandsire the well-known SA Peruvian Black Epic. Spirit's dam, Excelsior's High Voltage Tazer, has an equally impressive background. She's the harlequin daughter of a very well-known appaloosa - NWA/Hearsum Paulo. Her dam is actually the full sister to our herdsire Mr. Butterscotch, a beautiful appaloosa harlequin named Candlelight's Cookies and Cream. Both Butterscotch and Cookie are My Peruvian Zephyus offspring. Spirit's show career started as a mature male; however, that didn't stop him from beating out the competition. Judges commented on his extreme density and the amount of fleece packed onto his frame. They also appreciated his fleece's brightness and the handle he had maintained for his age. His macho appearance and confidence in the show ring also stood out. Spirit has proven to pass on his phenomenal fleece qualities to his offspring. Mono is a macho male and displays a strong presence. He's got exceptional bone on a typey frame. He sports a dense, uniform fleece, maintaining great structure and staple length as an older male. He's been producing some very nice crias and passes on his positive traits. So far, he's produced as dark as dark brown and as light as light fawn - he even has a roan or modern grey to his name! We've really noticed his ability to push density and structure. He's also got a knack for reducing primary micron and ridding fleeces of hairiness. He's a full Peruvian son of MFI Peruvian Candyman, a well-known 6x champion male and producer of champion offspring. His dam, MFI Peruvian Megan, is also a multi-banner winning animal.
