Snowmass Elite Legend boy! 16.6 AFD @ 4

Hummingherd's Quech 22

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)White
AOA# 32645552DOB: 7/16/201212 yrs
Now Co-Owned with Jay & Melissa Reeder of Apple Mountain Alpacas in GA! Contact party to discuss owning this elite male - we will most likely be open to sale discussions 2021. IF you're lucky enough to have a Snowmass Elite Legend son, then you're lucky enough.... but we are proud to say that we have an Elite Legend son WITH EPDs in TOP 1% in SDAFD and SF, TOP 2% AFD, TOP 5% in %>30, Top 5% in Mean Curve and Top 5% in % Medulation, Top 4% in Fleece Weight and Top 8% in MSL! He is clearly a leader in all traits... But do take a look at the EPDs you can expect Quech22 to bring to your breeding program - We're thrilled with the Value numbers. At AOA National fleece show 7/16/18 - Quech 22 took 2nd place behind Snowmass Loro Piana, placing above his sire Elite Legend. Quech then fetched First Place the next month at PAOBA’s fleece show in mature males, again placing above his sire, Elite Legend Quech 22's extremely bright fleece at age 4 comes in with an AFD of 16.6, SD 3.1, 18.5 CV and %>30 was a mere 0.3%. AT AGE 4. Yes, we're serious. Quech has a unique fleece character. It first appeared long and 'drapey' instead of a more densely packed fleece as a yearling. He had an exceptionally bright fleece that was easily considered somewhat of a 'silky'. We don't mind if that isn't exactly what the show ring awards for....we know this male has the genetics and proven fleece traits himself to take our fiber growing goals into the next generation of alpaca farming - where consistant fleeces meet the textile industry standards, and are predictable for uniformity and lasting fineness, and staple length. Into adulthood, Quech 22 has a denser handle to his fleece and great shear weights. Conformation is exceptional with a solid frame, very full coverage down to his toes and still that typey head. We've used him specifically for fleece traits here, but also for improving coverage and conformation traits in breeding females. He is a 'go to' breeder that packs a lot of improvement possibilities into the pairings. Quech was put into production here at the end of 2016, and that first cria (female out of Hummingherd’s Delara named Spitz & Giggles) hit the ground 11/2017. He now has offspring in the CA, AZ, and in Georgia on the ground... 80% female and all brilliant bright white except a dark fawn from a brown dam. Astute breeders please contact Wendy at Peaceful Prairie Ranch (West) 928.848.0267) or Jay Reeder at Apple Mountain Alpacas (East) to schedule your breedings to this Male - ‘the Quech of a lifetime’!

An EPD Fleece Powerhouse!!

Peaceful Prairie's Sweet Annie

HuacayaBred (Female)White
AOA# 32645361DOB: 11/1/201410 yrs
Meet Sweet Annie! Named after a Zac Brown song - she exhibits a soft hand, which is very dense and uniform. Her EPDs from the award winning genes of her lineage give her a 2017 EPD Trait Ranking of TOP 2.5 percentile in AFD, TOP 5.3 percentile in SDAFD, TOP 2.9 Percentile in SpinFinenss, TOP 5.8 percentile in %F>30, Top 0.3% in Mean Curve (number 133 out of 42K females!), Top 4% in Medulation and Top 8% in Fleece Weight! Some History: Sweet Annie's dam, Hummingherd's Running Lizzy, boasted excellent mothering abilities and Fleece stats - a daughter of light multi champ PC Running Late - she sheared 15.9AFD on her third shearing. Sweet Annie's sire as well brings a lot to the genetic package here: He is the well known Levi's 501 of Hummingherd, a herdsire who is now standing at stud at Little Creek Farm/Accoyo America in NY. His offspring can often be found at POC Auction in June. '501' is the son of multi fleece champion Hummingherd's Leviathan. Leviathan, as a Poseidon son, threw an astounding fineness with density that was a game-changer for Hummingherd Alpacas. The best male he produced was Annie's sire ‘Levi's 501’ who amassed 15 blue ribbons and 5 Color Championships in both halter and fleece shows early in his career, including impressive wins in large competitive white classes. In 2011 he beat 11 big-name entries at IAO fleece, and in 2012 he won IAO Supreme Fleece Champion, then went on to win GWAS Fleece Color Champion and Judges Choice. He closed out that year winning First place in AOA National Fleece Show! He amazed all with also managing to be in the 10th percentile in fleece weight! All that fineness and weight are a rare combination, but due to his density - he offered both. Sweet Annie is Dense. She comes by it honestly since her sire, Levi's 501’s skin biopsy results showed a follicle density of 78.9/sq.mm at 36 mo. age. Secondary to primary fiber ratio was 10.6:1 Mean secondary fibers at 36mo. were 16.4 with primary fibers at 21.9 microns. Ian Watt's summary comments were (quote) "This is an elite alpaca exhibiting excellence in all aspects of skin biopsy data, Excellent uniformity of micron in both fiber populations is enhanced by the 5.5 micron fiber population differential which completes the package that makes this an elite alpaca herdsire. One of the best we have ever tested."

Priceless

Description

Pickle is so special - she hit hard times as a newborn and became septic. Wendy got great medcial care for her, including a plasma transfer and she pulled through - but was left blind. Her life has been well documented and widely celebrated on our FB page, as well as here at the farm. She is living a great life in a pen that she know well and can easily navigate - our ‘maternity pen’. She also knows how to get into the barn when she needs shelter from Weather - most likely by sound, following her friends. She has amazing soft, uniform fiber and we are so proud of her. She is busy writing a memoir about overcoming odds - watch for it soon. Of course, Pickle is Not for sale - she is priceless!
