The legendary grey herdsire, Snowmass Enlightenment, is bringing his power packed genetics to the West Coast! "Enlightenment is the most significant grey stud we've ever produced." -- Snowmass Alpacas "Best male in the show. This stunning male combines perfect conformation and magnificent fleece. He is the 'Total Package'." -- Kentucky Classic Judge "If you could put all the best performing, most unique blend of genetics into one stud for the most advanced color breeding program...that is exactly what Snowmass did and the result is nothing short of magnificent!" -- Prior Owner "If we could have a Royal grey line of alpacas, Enlightenment is what it would take to get us there!" -- Julie Skinner His selling at the 2009 Futurity Auction by Snowmass was "...a true commitment to keep him in the breeding pool of Elite grey males in the USA as [we] slowly move out of breeding for grey." -- Snowmass Alpacas Snowmass Enlightenment, a multi-champion, is the product of generations of superior genetic development. Follow up his line to his multi-champion sire and 2X Futurity Herdsire of the Year, Snowmass XXXtreme, who was sired by multi-champion Snowmass Royal Rose, who was in turn sired by the incomparable Peruvian Hemingway. And lest we forget his dam, Snowmass Silver Star, sired by Snowmass Casanova, who was sired by Peruvian Bueno, brings rich grey and color genetics herself. In 2009, Enlightenment won the AOBA Reserve Color Championship at 54 months just after taking a Championship at the Kentucky Classic Show. He was the highest selling alpaca at the 2009 Futurity Auction, taking in over double the price of the next closest male. Enlightenment has produced a multitude of champion offspring in all colors, starting with his 2nd cria, Snowmass Enlightened - a rose grey 12X Champion who has gone on to be a great herdsire in his own right. A female cria, KBA Enlightened, went on to win 10 Championships and produce the top selling grey at the 2015 Parade of Champions Auction (for $47,500). He's produced champion offspring in every year since he started breeding (see photos to right). Some recent shows/sales for his offspring: -- 2013 MAPACA Jubilee - 2 of the 6 Judge's Choice entries were Enlightenment offspring -- 2014 AOA National Auction - an Enlightenment female was 4th highest seller and won a championship at the show (to go along with her 4 other banners) -- 2015 Parade of Champions Auction - an Enlightenment grandson was the highest selling full-interest alpaca This herdsire is one of the few grey males to come on the scene and make everyone's head turn. He's that good. Contact us for your opportunity to make Enlightenment's incredible genetics work to improve your color/grey program. Enlightenment is co-owned by Epic Alpacas, Morning Beckons, and Providence Alpacas. His cria are now hitting the ground at Epic Alpacas and the fleeces are spectacular: fine, bright, dense and tons of crimp! We love this guy!

Dam: Heatherbrook's Cutie Pea

Legends Challenger girl, throws grey!

Heatherbrook's Cutie Pea

HuacayaOpen (Female)Medium Silver Grey
AOA# 31075237DOB: 11/15/200717 yrs
Cutie Pea is a fantastic grey female with strong grey genetics. She comes from championship grey bloodlines with her sire being Legend’s Challenger of KPR and her grand sires being Inca Legend and Kaspa. Judges consistently complimented her fleece quality for its combination of fineness, density and uniformity of character. With outside breedings to Legend’s Challenger being limited, Cutie Pea is a rare find as a way to get this prestigious bloodline into your breeding program. Cutie Pea’s 2009 cria is a true black male out of Patagonia Compadre that was part of KB Alpacas 2010 show string. Her 2010 cria is a true black female (KBA’s Pepper) out of the 7X Color Champion Heatherbrook’s Mercury. Pepper was a part of KB Alpacas 2012 show string. Her 2012 cria is a medium silver grey female out of multiple time Color Champion Our Peruvian First. The 2012 cria turned out so nice, they redid the breeding and in 2013 got a gorgeous light fawn female out of multiple time Color Champion Our Peruvian First. On May 26, 2015 Cutie Pea had a superb silver grey boy, Sebastian's Claymore, out of our 4X Champ grey stud, Sebastian. Claymore's fleece is tight corkscrew bundles of incredible shine and luster. On September 15, 2016, Cutie Pea had a gorgeous jet black girl out of Snowmass Enlightenment! This daughter, Carbon Lux, has joined our breeding program and has produced a fantastic cria of her own in 2019! In 2018, Cutie Pea produced a wonderful silver grey male with 2X Nat'l Champ, Wilkinson, and we are thrilled with the strong bone and dense, soft fleece from this male, Captain Bill. In October 2019, Cutie Pea did it again with another silver tux grey male from Wilkinson. This boy looks to be her best yet! We are loving this pairing! Cutie Pea continues to be one of our top producers and is a great mom with lots of milk.

Service Sire: MHAR Crystal Blue Boreas

Amazing Fineness, Density, & Handle!

MHAR Crystal Blue Boreas

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Medium Silver Grey
AOA# 35439684DOB: 8/26/20195 yrs
News Flash! Crystal Blue's first cria is on the ground and he's a big boy weighing in at 21.9 lbs. He was up, roaming the pasture and trying to nurse before he was even dry. With a nice square frame and loads of popcorn curls that are already starting to form crimpy bundles at the skin, this boy has lots of potential! We can't wait to see how he grows. Scroll to the bottom to see his birthday pix. Crystal Blue has settled quite a few of our ladies with pregnancies confirmed. We're offering his services now at a low price while we wait to see what he produces. This is your chance to get one of his breedings at an introductory price. We expect the price will rise when we see more of his get! Crystal Blue was born 3+ weeks early and a bit dismature. But, at 16 lbs, he caught up quickly, showing us a nice square frame and upright posture. Just look at how he poses for the camera! His fleece is very soft, bright and crimpy with really nice early bundling/density. We had planned to show him in 2020 and spring 2021, but with the COVID-19 pandemic, the shows were all cancelled and we're so disappointed. Instead we sent Blue's yearling fleece to the AOA National Fleece Show 2021. Judge Amanda Vandenbosch commented on the fine fleece, good staple length and even color, awarding him Seventh Place. At the Gold Color Gathering 2021 Fleece Show, that same yearling fleece earned First Place (of 9) and Color Champion from Cheryl Gehly who commented: "Excellent Character and Brightness! Secondaries are really fine!". In Halter at GCG 21, Judge Wade Gease noted the fineness, staple length and excellent conformation/bone after awarding him Second Place, with only density holding him back from First. Later in Walking Fleece, Cheryl Gehly praised his retained fineness, noting he's very fine for his age, with little guard hair and excellent uniformity between primary and secondary fibers, placing him Second (of 5) in the two year class. At the CA Classic 2022, Judge Laurel Shouvlin praised his fleece organizationn/character, and his good conformation, awarding him 2nd Place followed by Reserve Champion in Halter. In Walking Fleece, Judge David Barboza mentioned his long staple and nice organization, saying he especially liked the character, density, uniformity and handle, placing him in First Place (of 6) and Reserve Champion. In the 2022 CALPACA Autumn Fleece Extravaganza, Judge Beverly Brehm noted his soft handling fleece with good uniformity. Then in the Gold Country Gathering 2022 Judge Stephanie Glyptis loved his conformation and fine, uniform fleece, awarding him First Place and Color Champion in the Halter Class. In Walking Fleece, Judge Dianna Timmerman gave him First Place, noting the fineness, uniformity and staple length of his fleece.

Description

Carbon-Lux is a black breeders dream girl - true black with no light fibers. She's very bright and soft, and a nicely put together female. In October 2019, Carbon birthed an excellent male with all her great fiber qualities, plus the density coming in from the sire. After two lovely girls, she's birthed a MHAR Crystal Blue Boreas boy who was up and running around before he was even dry. This big boy weighed in at 21.9 lbs and is sporting a mass of popcorn curls that are already transitioning to crimpy bundles at the skin! Check him out below. We're pretty pumped about Blue's first cria and can't wait to see how he grows!
