July 2020 Update: 2020 offspring have hit the ground and we continue to be impressed with how this male just stamps them out. Strong frames, abundant fleece coverage, and incredible growth and development on the crias compared to others in the "nursery". You just cannot go wrong with this male and his ancestry. ____________________ The Legend has started his breeding career with authority! Three for three now - all girls (dark fawn, medium fawn and white!). Pulling in color from his own extensive background of Futurity Color Championship ancestry, we are quite pleased with what we are seeing hit the ground here! To date, his daughter, Barbie, has won 1st at Nationals as well as a banner for Best of Bred & Owned at the very competitive Carolina show - as a juvie! Due to the COVID situation, no other of his offspring have been shown yet. ____________________ A stunning multiple color champion white male with exactly the package we expect in our program – conformation (there has to be a flawless foundation from which to build upon), exquisite fiber (color championships when competing against the PacNW farms tells you that this fiber stands up to scrutiny), AND presence. H2R Velvet Legend – a.k.a. “Buggy” as he is known in to us – is the son of the legendary Snowmass Velvet Touche’ and H2R Junebug. Snowmass Velvet Touche’ has his own accolades and is well known for not only being a multiple color champion at Futurity but also for putting champion offspring on the ground again and again and again. This male just stamps them out – a consistent impact male. A secret ingredient here is the impact dam – H2R Junebug. H2R Junebug is the daughter of Snowmass Elite Legend and TGF Lynnea, and she brings her own championship credentials to the table in the making of this next generation. Look closely at the ARI on this male. The lineup has so many amazing names that cannot be ignored. The ancestry is simply phenomenal. (Remember, Snowmass Velvet Touche' is a male that won Futurity banners TWO times and has repeatedly stamped out impact offspring! Champion H2R Junebug descends from Elite Legend and remains in the top 5% of EPDs today in many categories - this is a powerhouse dam that is not to be ignored as a foundation dam. We cannot thank Happy Hounds enough for parting with these genetics and allowing us to build this into our next generations.) The Next Generation Alpaca has arrived.

*Update Jan 2020 - Moose has been confirmed pregnant by ultrasound...Bred to 5x Canadian Color Champion with amazing density, conformation, and coverage, we are excited to see what this pairing will bring to the next generation offspring! _________ *Update 9/1/2019 - it's an amazing dark fawn female offspring for Moose x Velvet Legend!* This offspring female has Futurity champions on BOTH sides of her pedigree now! Both sets of parents are champions, both sets of grandparents are Futurity Color Champions. WOW. Well done Moose! _________ **It was simply easy to choose the son of 2x Futurity champion for her service sire - H2R Velvet Legend, son of Snowmass Velvet Touche', was the perfect choice given the color background and traits for the next generation! Easy, peasy!! ________ Indeed, this ribbon winning alpaca is following in her parent's footsteps. She is her father's daughter. Multiple judges have all made the same remarks on this girl: extreme density, exceptional coverage, well grown for age, conformationally correct and well balanced, excellent bone density, ultra fine fleece that is bright and deeply uniform with incredibly long staple length and even organized tight crimp. Confederate Princess (or "Moose", as she is affectionately known around the pastures) IS the next generation alpaca. Flawless conformation and perfect head. Luxurious fiber. Sigh. Strong in bone. More coverage of fiber per square millimeter packed onto a solid, correct frame. Fiber that is bright, dense, consistent in architecture, as well as low in micron and pleasing to the touch. Typical of offspring from the High Plains program. This alpaca is simply what you get from pairing up two top alpacas. It is these offspring that people continually say, "WOW!" or "I want to see THAT one!" or "I want to touch THAT one!" or finally... "I WANT THAT ONE!" Having Champion parents is one of the keys to the success sometimes. Focusing on trait improvement in the next generations is a cornerstone of our program. Confederate Princess is a shining example of what happens when you adhere to cornerstone objectives and plans. :)
