Troubadour is still standing stud at our farm. He sheared 9.9 lbs this year at almost 13 years ld. HE is still one of my best studs! We first showed Troubadour in 2013 at the age of 5. We were so happy that the judges could see what an outstanding male he was. He is still holding that beautiful architecture. he is maintaining that beautiful high frequency crimp with the density and fineness for his age at 24 micron. In 2016, I did histograms on all of his cria's that were her. They were from 13.9 to 18.1. Troubadour is throwing that low micron. He also is giving his cria excellent fleece coverage and That Head! Troubadour has a pleasant laid back personality which his cria's seem to have also. I cannot say enough about using this male in your breeding program.

In nearly 14 years in the alpaca business, I have yet to have a patterned animal born on the farm. They are not particularly better or worse than any other color, but when you haven't had something, of course that's what you want the most. In the spring of 2015 I was helping a neighbor and friend with his shearing and I had the pleasure of shearing this lovely girl. Her fleece was extremely fine with a beautiful character. She is put together nicely and I certainly admired her "curb appeal". So imagine my surprise when talking with my friend, he told me of his desire to have a new herdsire, particularly one in gray. Over the years, I have been blessed with gray boys. So without thinking that the offer would ever be accepted, I suggested a trade for one of my proven gray boys for this lovely girl and it was accepted. We have chosen to breed her to the incomparable Accoyo September. His size, density and lovely fleece should be a compliment to Bobbi's lovely qualities. 6/17 - Bobbi graced us with one of the nicest fleeced animals we've had on the farm. He's white, so I didn't get my pattern, but wow! He sure is dense, crimpy and has coverage down to his toes! 4/19 - Bobbi gave us a beautiful fawn boy out of Troubador. What a head on this little one!

Description

Well, we were hoping for a pattern out of this pairing, but we aren't complaining about this solid boy with extremely fine fleece. At shearing this spring (2020) we found some darker fawn spots on both his neck and body leading us to believe that he could indeed throw some spots if bred to the right female. He also had the most incredible shearing length of over 6" with fineness that's beyond compare. Swanson continues to impress. His fleece at just over 3 yrs is under 24 microns and still one of the longest of any of our animals. He started breeding in the spring of 2022 with amazing efficiency. His 1st cria is out of one of our spotted dams and she is absolutely regal!
