Highly Expressive Harlequin Appaloosa!

Vintage Cashmere U-Taupe-ia

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Medium Silver Grey
AOA# 32132649DOB: 8/28/201113 yrs
Taupie is a striking appaloosa harlequin male that is on a roll for throwing spotted and harlequin offspring. He has sired 53 offspring and 74% are either appaloosa or harlequin! While dam selection has a significant influence on such outcomes, it should be noted that the majority of the dams Taupie has been bred to have no genetic influence on this outcome. So for those that don't have existing foundation girls with appy/harlequin lineage -- Taupie has proven to be capable of passing along his appy genetics and produce desired results. So how does this happen? Only part of that story is known, but what we DO know is that certain lines of known appy gene carriers are much more "expressive" than others. Taupie just happens to be one of those. His heritage boasts appaloosa genetics on both sides of his lineage with Aussie Rockford out of Hannahruh on his sire's side and Chiquita Import on his dam's side. In April 2016, Taupie's progeny debuted in the show ring taking a blue in walking fleece and the blue in halter at the California Classic. This was Enchanted Hill LuTau, who is a beautiful stud himself! This first boy was then followed by another appaloosa female and then another appy male-- both very similar to the first. The fourth cria, however, is something extra special! This little girl has expressed every color on the chart, not one pattern-- just speckles and spots from nose to toes-- Rare Gem U-Taupe-ia's Appletini! The unique coloring of this cria looks as though the color from Taupie's Grand Dam, Chiquita Import, is coming through and producing the rarest of rare gems-- her beautiful color seems to morph before your eyes! As much fun as it is to talk about Taupie's progeny... more about him! Taupie has a spotted face, spotted belly, spotted legs, and a beautiful solid platinum-taupe blanket. His top line is a nice medium silver grey, then blending into light silver grey down the sides. Other crias include: Appsolutely Adorable DVAF Fancy Pants Maverick Plumb Creek's Honey Dijon Rose Rare Gem in the SPOT Light Rare Gem Lady London Rare Gem Medicine Man Take a look at all of them!

Dam: TrueHeart's Alida

Beautiful Eastwind's Snowstorm Girl

TrueHeart's Alida

HuacayaOpen (Female)Beige
AOA# 32130072DOB: 8/12/201014 yrs
Alida is purely feminine. She is a beautiful girl with very lofty, soft fleece. She is the daughter of multi-champion, Eastwind's snowstorm, and she has his signature sturdy frame and heavy bone. Alida would enhance any herd and enrich your gene pool. Although she is beige, we feel she would also be well suited in a program that offers color. Fleece samples are available and we welcome farm visits.

Description

Queeny is one of those harlequin's that is mildly expressed. We know she has the gene. She has all the ingredients but has only greyed out in certain areas; top of head and along her legs. Her blanket is white but mildly greying. She has a few spots that have also greyed. Her fleece is plentiful and very bundled and bright.. We are keeping our eye on Queeny and we look forward to breeding her to one of our harlequin boys either end of 2020 or spring of 2021. We just have a feeling with this girl and have no plans at this time to sell her. I ended up breeding Queenie and one other harlequin to Skyfall - fingers crossed for a crazy beautiful harlequin as a result. Either way - with Skyfall you cant go "wrong". Keep an eye out! So Queenie had a spotted boy - and OMG! Is he a knock out! His fleece is like Daddy; bundled and bright but his face says momma. This little dude is a keeper - we are going to watch him grow. In the meantime Queenie was bred to Man of Mystery for a 2023 cria and after the 2022 results I am super excited AGAIN! Side note: Some of the outcomes of 2022 kinda make me feel like the years working to improve harley appy are paying off. The kids are getting better and better and better and some of the males (and there have been A LOT of them)(LOL) who are now approaching breeding age are going to start to create a more diverse pool of improvements. Its very groovy. 2021 Histogram results; 3 Years 21.5/4.6SD She has some darker fibers throughout so its lookin like she is turning but slowly; fairly consistent which is GREAT!
