A Diamond In The Rough Harlequin

Firecracker's Disco

Disco is a diamond in the rough indeed! Her sire is Brutus's Firecracker, who is out of the imported full Accoyo 6Peruvian Accoyo Brutus. Her dam is Little Lilly, who is an Appaloosa/rose grey Harlequin out of Aussie Colorado Dillinger! There are the likes of Don Julio, Presidio, Caligula and Felix in her lineage! Disco has won FOUR 1st Place ribbons and a Reserve Championship. She has had two cria, but has never been bred to Appaloosa or Harlequin. Her fiber stats are incredible: AFD 19.1, SD 4.3 at 3 years old AFD 19.1, SD 3.7 at 6 years old AFD 20.7, SD 4.5 at 7 years old AFD 21.4, SD 4.5 at 8 years old! She really is a DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH! Disco was bred to our beautiful Harlequin Picasso's Peruvian Spotted Clown and had a lovely female Appaloosa cria in late 2016. It will be interesting to see if her coloring changes to grey/Harlequin. UPDATE: Maggie was born! She is Harlequin!!

Description

This boy. We have had a number of boys this last few years. OH MY! And many of them are for sale or have been sold given they are redundant to our current collection of boys. But this guy is a keeper. Look at his first kid.... (pic #3) Born from a solid dam. Stella Luna - gorgeous fleece on this female. Who has zero lineage indicating she is a carrier. So his exquisite pattern came from Dad; Pepperjack. The youngster (pictured) is straight correct and fiber that looks outstanding so far. The perfect combination of interesting and strong fiber traits and solid. Pepperjack is out of two harlequin's. And the dam is one of our favorites; Firecracker Disco. Favorites because her prevalence of passing harlequin was high but mostly because her fiber was fine and had strong character WHILE being a super attractive female. She is an RC and has a number of 1st place ribbons in her show career. We own her daughter Maggie who so far is performing beautifully. We own another Lakota boy whose fiber is fabulous. Dad to Pepperjack is another well known Harley that for all intents we can likely consider homozygous... meaning he passes that harley gene EVERY DAM TIME. Point being - we think Pepperjack might be homozygous AND he carries all the qualities we love in harlequin. We love the spots but we also love a fairly clear blanket at maturity. WE LOVE his light platinum coloring. We love his fleece character and his traits. 2 year histo: AFD: 20.8 micron, SD 4.5% We pretty much love him and he isnt going anywhere. Co-owned with Wooley Beast - this guy is a keeper and available for breeding if it strikes your fancy. In the meantime, we are using him. On a number of females; spotted and not. We will be sure to keep you posted. Pepperjack has sired TWO platinum harlequins (out of solid dams) and will be getting a hey hey of a lot more use here at the farm. We look forward to sharing those results.
