It's a sad day this August when we lost our Jumper to a closed head injury, hitting his head on a fence post in a freak accident and having to be put down after losing the ability to walk. :( He only just started in our program, leaving one son and two daughters on our farm. ---------------------------- As a four year old with awesome fleece that is maintaining fineness, uniformity, and crimp as he matures, Smokejumper is taking home champion fleece banners, along with the coveted "Spirit of the Industry" awards (along with glowing comments from the judges!). We had quietly tucked him away on our farm as a hidden gem, since each year's new crias took precedence in our limited show string. Until one day we looked at him, now a mature male, and were amazed at his fineness, crimp style & consistency, and uniformity across his blanket. Jumper's dam is our champion grey female, Rosie, who herself has carried a fine fleece long into her maturity. Her other sons, Dauntless and Longbow, also have won their share of banners. Longbow himself won color champion with his 3 year old fleece! Jumper's sire is none other than the pivotal male Patagonia's Lennox -- a world before his time in propelling dark colored programs into fine and crimpy fiber. Jumper has secured excellent placings from his juvenile days, showing against his sire's other sons and grandsons, that hinted at the genetics that would have him continuing to produce fantastic fiber as he matures. His first show as a juvenile was wet, humid and freezing. Coming from our dry cold Colorado weather, this was a trifecta of distressing environmental conditions! Nothing like having the fans on for the humidity when you are so cold that your teeth chatter! His fiber still looked fantastic, and he placed 2nd to none other than his 'nephew' from Patagonia, an Ernesto son. A tough competition, with these young males standing like matching bookends at the top of the lineup. The judge commented that we were really going to like his fleece when his cria fleece comes off! Jumper held his head high at the 2013 Futurity in Dark Bred & Owned Juvenile to secure 1st place among a lineup of several impressive animals from CCNF and Snowmass in the B&O classes. His last show as a juvenile in 2014 was the always-competitive, level-V Great Western Alpaca Show. He took 2nd in a close pairing to his (same age) nephew, with them standing there like brothers rather than uncle/nephew, over males of notable bloodlines. At 2015 GWAS as a yearling, Jumper secured an hard earned third in another tough class, standing shoulder to shoulder in good company: below a Snowmass Matrix Majesty son and above sons of Crescent Moon's Simtustus and Aussie .38 Special! Along with Dauntless, he helped to win 2nd in dark Produce of Dam for our Frosted Red Rose -- an amazing feat for a grey and brown for their grey dam, since solids usually beat out greys!

* PROVEN AND BRED * GREAT MOM, EASY BREEDER, EASY KEEPER! * MOSTLY FEMALE OFFSPRING TO-DATE * ROAN COLORATION * CHAMPION SIRE WHO MAKES SPOTS * SERVICE SIRE CLASSIC GREY SON OF CHAMPION Bliss has softness of hand, uniformity, well grown frame and conformation of a fantastic foundation dam as she matures. Taking after her own dam, she become a roan grey at 2 years old with consistent white fibers throughout her blanket. As a yearling, she had white fibers (before modern grey, and now roan, classes were common), and so showed as a dark indefinite in Bred & Owned, where darks, greys, and ID are grouped together. At her first show, with only 4 months of fiber growth, Bliss was described by the judge as balanced, with good uniformity in micron and expression of organization throughout the staple and across the blanket, and a lovely handle. In production, Bliss was an excellent mom to her first cria, a dark modern rose grey (roan) male by Red Granite's Mr. Ben Franklin, named Ragnarok, who has gone to another farm. She continued to be an excellent dam to her roan grey girl, Serenity, sired by our multiple champion Smokejumper, who bore lasting fineness. Serenity joined our breeding program to carry on Jumper's fantastic fiber genetics, as he has died early from an accident, passing her fine & uniform genetics on to her two girls, Inara Serra and Perfect Harmony. We bred Serentiy to Truthsayer for a repeat of Harmony, and Harmony bred to our Major to explore her spotted/classic genetics. Bred to our grey champion, Truthsayer, Bliss made us the lovely AutumnSun's Clairvoyance, a LF (roan really, as 'fawn grey') with wonderful fiber style. Genetic typing shows she is a dilute black, 'ee aa'. Clair is one that should be able to breed into a black or grey program, which we have exercised by breeding her to our rose grey champion stud AutumnSun's Artorius. Bliss' next dark roan girl (see a trend in girl offspring?) was sired by our multiple champion classic grey, Dauntless, that we named Serendipity Smiles. Serendipity was bred to our well-pedigreed dark roan, Magistrate, to produce a lovely dark roan, AutumnSun's Joie de Vivre. Greys and roans abound! Not to stop there, we have bred Bliss back to grey, this time a classic grey -- AutumnSun's Reposado, son of champion rose grey and our other matriarchal grey line via our AutumnSun's Loreleigh (which brings in great greys, Enlightenment, Avatar, and Addonis). Bred to LRG Reposado, Bliss surprised us with a LB male -- though he could be a light modern rose grey given time to fully express his coloration. SOLD! Congratulations to Kim and Robert Brandsma of Sugar Pike Alpacas!

A spectacular result from the pairing of K with the exceptional Avalon's Jacob Black. The genetics here are amazing. We were pleased in his grey coloration with the genetics of this pairing. This male has one of the finest fleeces of all crias ever born on our farm. It has beautiful crimp and organization, shine and staple. As he matures we expect that he will show off is fleece wonderfully in the ring. And for spinning -- it is hands-down amazing to the touch! Truthsayer's first cria, a beautiful DRG girl out of Merida, has gone on to win the grey female COLOR CHAMPION in the 2021 AOA National Fleece Show -- with her tui tips and all her vegetative matter from being uncoated. So excited that the judge saw her worth past all of that 'noise'.

Description

We hesitate to sell her because she is one of only three dams by our multiple champion/ judge's choice Smokejumper. If not for our need to reduce herd size we would keep her for our grey program, and I am sure we will have some regret selling our Jumper girl. He was still winning banners for his fleece at 5-6 years old (he even beat our many time champion Stradivarius once), so shame on us for not utilizing him more in our breeding program. Jumper was the son of the rose grey foundation dam in our herd, Frosted Red Rose ('Rosie'), who was not only a champion but produced champions. Her dam is our AutumnSun's Burgundy Bliss - a dark modern grey dam born from dark brown dam that went modern as she aged and that produced classic grey when bred that way. Her roan-grey heritage runs deep. Serenity is also roan - also known as a modern rose grey -- with white fibers throughout her blanket. She is well developed on a balanced frame and excellent conformation. She is a great mother and an easy keeper that has bred, carried, birthed and nursed with no issues. Her dam's line has been strongly maternal, all good breeders with a propensity to produce girls (all been modern greys). Her granddam and great-granddam are both modern greys, so Serenity is 4th generation modern grey on her dam's side. SOLD! Congratulations to Kim and Robert Brandsma of Sugar Pike Alpacas! She just had a light brown girl by Truthsayer, Perfect Harmony. This girl is a eye-catching brown with a white face, evidencing her grey heritage. For her second cria, Serenity has given us a beautiful medium brown girl sired by our modern rose grey, Magistrate! Inara Serra is a beautiful girl. This girl seems to be going the way of grey /roan. Another perfect girl for a grey program. We love the fleece and overall look of Harmony so much that we bred Serenity back to Truthsayer for a repeat cria. She is only for sale since we are keeping Harmony but we may choose to take her off depending.... This year's cria is another girl! This one, sired by Truthsayer is a rose grey. Same face as Harmony but this one expressing her grey genetics more for evident grey across her body. If Inara sales, we may keep this girl....
