Studmaster Peruvian Impact's Shasta Daisy
HuacayaBred (Female)White
AOA# 30463035DOB: 4/1/200618 yrs
Shasta daisy is my favorite female. I have been offered a lot of money by several people, but I can not find it in my heart to sell her. They will have to pry her from my cold...dead fingers with kung Fu iron grip and then face the wrath of my ghost before I will ever let go of her. :-D
Shasta Daisy Took first in her class at CABA Level 5 Halter! She was the oldest female there at over 5 years old! Judge Diana Timmerman LOVED her conformation and her well balanced proportions. She also said she is still very fine and that fineness is consistent throughout the entire blanket. Shasta is very deserving of a blue ribbon :)
She may not be full Peruvian, but I can tell you that both her sire and her dam are top producers. Her dam, Susy, is a Chilean import that has produced nothing but beautiful progeny with multiple sires. I am proud to have Susy's genetics. Impact is now 7 years old, but still maintains fine, dense fleece with high frequency crimp. That being said, it's no surprise that Shasta Daisy's fleece qualities are of elite status. She has extremely high frequency crimp with bundling and even forms into micro-staples. At 4 years of age she maintained a 19.3 micron fleece. Her mean curvature is far above average at 55.4 deg/mm. She had only 1% over 30 microns and 10% medullated fibers. Her CoV was 19.6%. Shasta's spin fineness was 18.6 microns and standard deviation is at a low 3.8 microns. She has the look, the fleece, and the genetics of a champion. This is the kind of alpaca we are trying to breed for. An alpaca who maintains her fineness throughout her years. Many young cria or even 2 year olds can have great histograms, but a lot of blow out and lose their fleece qualities. Shasta Daisy has proven to maintain beautiful fleece and fineness that stands the test of time-even through pregnancy and nursing a cria. She has good density to go along with it! Shasta's 5th year fiber is coming in just as nice as her last year's fleece.
Not only is she gorgeous, but her personality is a plus. So easy to handle and as sweet as sugar. She has never spat at people EVER. She is great around children and very calm. Sweet throughout pregnancy and with cria at side.
UPDATE 11/17/11: Shasta's 2011 histogram at 5 years old is in! AFD 19.1 SD 3.8 CV 19.9 %>30 1.0 Spin fineness 18.4 Curvature 55.3. WOW! Such a consistent female in her numbers! There aren't many females with her numbers at her age! Truly a gem and worth her weight in gold. WOW.
UPDATE 6/19/12: SHASTA DAISY WILL BE BREEDING TO EZEKIAL'S CHALLENGER OF MARQUAM HILL (THE LAST OF THE ONLY 5 OUTSIDE BREEDINGS AVAILABLE) AFTER SHE DELIVERS HER SPECTACULAR CHARLEMAGNE CRIA IN AUGUST..
