CONGRATULATIONS to Lindsey Betz and the Betz Family Farm on the purchase of Vintage Cashmere's U-Taupe-ia. Taupie will be greatly missed at Rare Gem Alpacas but he leaves behind a number of lovely offspring to grace our herd for years to come! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Taupie is a striking appaloosa harlequin male that is on a roll for throwing spotted and harlequin offspring. He has sired 53 offspring and 74 percent are either appaloosa or harlequin! While dam selection has a significant influence on such outcomes, it should be noted that the majority of the dams Taupie has been bred to have no genetic influence on this outcome. So for those that don't have existing foundation girls with appy / harlequin lineage-- Taupie has proven to be capable of passing along his appy genetics and produce desired results. So how does this happen? Only part of that story is known, but what we DO know is that certain lines of known appy gene carriers are much more "expressive" than others. Taupie just happens to be one of those. His heritage boasts appaloosa genetics on both sides of his lineage with Aussie Rockford out of Hannahruh on his sire's side and Chiquita Import on his dam's side. In April 2016, Taupie's progeny debuted in the show ring taking a blue in walking fleece and the blue in halter at the California Classic. This first boy was then followed by another appaloosa female and then another appy male-- both very similar to the first. The fourth cria, however, is something extra special! This little girl has expressed every color on the chart, not one pattern-- just speckles and spots from nose to toes-- Rare Gem U-Taupe-ia's Appletini! The unique coloring of this cria looks as though the color from Taupie's Grand Dam, Chiquita Import, is coming through and producing the rarest of rare gems-- her beautiful color seems to morph before your eyes! As much fun as it is to talk about Taupie's progeny... more about him! Taupie has a spotted face, spotted belly, spotted legs, and a beautiful solid platinum-taupe blanket. His top line is a nice medium silver grey, then blending into light silver grey down the sides. UPDATE: 2/2019 Leoopard appaloosa offspring, Sleepy Acres App-solutely Adorable "Dorie", takes Reserve Color Champion at Txolan! Congratulations!!

Dam: BMF Hurricane's Tsunami

Proven Appaloosa Harlequin Producer!

BMF Hurricane's Tsunami

HuacayaBred (Female)White
AOA# 32161526DOB: 10/6/201212 yrs
The advertised auction price is for Tsuanmi's unborn cria only. Tsunami is a proven harlequin producer and a foundation dam for the Rare Gem breeding program. Tsunami is a well packaged ½ Accoyo white female sired by true black TCB Hurricane. Hurricane is genetic packed and he was paired with Snowmass Royal Extreme gal Venus Oak. Tsunami is bringing a well-balanced frame with a full coverage of dense, well-defined crimp and staple length. She is showing all the same attributes as her half brother, Mario. Tsunami also brings a classic Accoyo phenotype presence which we love to see in our herd. This dam is well-suited for any breeding program in color as she does have one brown spot on her shoulder. This is not a surprise since her sire comes from a true black in Zephyrson. You can appreciate the benefits of style, crimp and density when you look at her ARI. The likes of 10x Color Champion 382 Peruvian Zephyrus and PCA Accoyo Shangri-La ( EL Nino’s full brother) and the genetics from her dam, Snowmaster's Royal Extreme and Dakotia! All of these incredible genetics are what makes Tsunami one special girl. Her ARI should be reviewed for consideration! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Update: August 29, 2017, Tsunami gave birth to a beautiful appaloosa harlequin boy sired by harlequin herdsire, Vintage Cashmere's U-Taupe-ia "Taupie". Tsunami had an easy delivery and is showing natural maternal instincts. She has the largest udder full of milk I have ever seen on an alpaca. Her baby has gained 7.5 pounds in his first 14 days! The Tsunami - Taupie pairing produced such a beautiful cria... the breeding has been repeated and Tsunami is confirmed for another Taupie offspring!

Description

Maverick is so chill. It's hard to find pictures of him alone because he is always hanging out with his friends. He gets along with everyone. He is a harlequin with appaloosa genes and a very sweet boy. His micron count is 24 and the highest tested in my herd. His fiber is still very soft and nice to work with. His color is hard to classify as it is very unique and ever changing and it contains a few spots. The natural variety lends itself to a beautiful hand spun yarn.
