Samara Valles is what we have been working for with our breeding program! She is a fourth generation on our farm that started with breeding two young unproven alpacas, La Primavera (Phobos paternal sister) and David Shines back in 2001. Their daughter, Isara Valles, was bred to Camilio's Caramello. Their daughter, Jezza, was bred to Taxco and the result was our beautifully fleeced Samara!
This female has incredibly consistent fine fleece with very uniform crimp, great staple length, and density across the blanket. The crimp holds true all the way up her neck. Her fleece is certainly a favorite with spinners, and with those that purchase yarn. I love to use it in my nuno felting projects!
We look forward to taking the next steps with Samara. With lots of those fading fawns in her background we think the color possibilities are incredible. Finding the right male to match with Samara's incredible fleece has been a task but we finally found the right male for the job, acquiring Killian of Wicklow Glen and he was a terrific match for Samara. This pairing produced a gorgeous classic dark silver gray daughter the first time around, so we did it again and the result was a dark brown female. Her silver daughter, Kumara, has taken multiple blue ribbons and championships with her fleece, including a best of show at NSAA's Fiber Fusion.
