Argo....in search of the Golden Fleece......FOUND IT!! Argo is a grandson of one of the finest colored suri females ever imported into the United States - Augustina. Her daughter, DDF Sophia, was a consistant producer of show stopping offspring until her death in 2012. Her last big hurrah and she certainly delivered! Argo has wowed the judges in all the big shows he was shown in including AOBA, Futurity, GWAS, and CABA Classic. With six 1sts, two color championships and one reserve championship, he has proven himself. He carries excellent conformation and a dense, lustrous fleece. Unfortunately, we have a lot of herdsires and he hasn't gotten nearly the number of breedings we would have hoped for. He needs to be put to work.

Banner Winning Suri

Vast Kalvin's Zannah Du

Zannah Du is our only Suri. Our farm focuses on elite fiber and public awareness of alpacas. While we have a limited and very selective huacaya breeding program, we felt it was important to have a high quality Suri in the herd to represent the variety of alpacas available. Elite genetics are a cornerstone of our farm. The combination of Jax Accoyo Kalvin and a snowmass male from MacGyver can only be expected to deliver amazing results. We were not disappointed. Zannah Du was our clear and obvious choice. A banner winning Suri with a very inquisitive personality. She has quickly become a farm favorite. Zannah Du is very special to us and we know she has amazing potential. She has brought home a Banner, despite being a white animal from colored parents. Bred to color, we expect the quality of the next generation to be phenomenal. We will find out soon as she is bred to WAP Argo by Commandor, a multi-champion male. zannah Du gave birth in June with a 21 pound light fawn male that we expect to be a fantastic show Suri. She holds a cherished part in our herd and is a great representative of all things Suri.

Description

A phenomenal son of two champions. Here at Sundrop Alpacas, we focus on having a variety of alpaca types and colors, with the best possible examples across the board. In fact, all of our show age animals are blue-ribbon winners and 5 of our 10 alpacas are champions. When selecting a Suri to represent the breed, we knew we couldn't settle for average. Our search resulted in Zannah Du, a white champion female hailing from the legendary Kalvin. Zannah Du is such a fantastic animal that we felt it was only fair to breed her to the best we can find. We looked to the west coast for guidance and found ARGO! Argo, a multi-champion brown son of Commandor, was clearly the best choice. We're thrilled with the result, no doubt the right choice was made! This pairing resulted in a HUGE fawn male, (>21 lbs) born on a hot summer day. We can tell from the first instant that this big guy is something special. He has tremendous coverage, very consistent color, and oh..., oh that softness and shine. Bringing top quality and limited availability genetics to the Midwest, It is what we do. While the shows that we attend have very few Suri alpacas, we have been taking Sundance and are confident that he has represent the breed very, very well. Winning First place at RailSplitter and Illinois Fiber Festival and then moving on to Nationals where he picked up the coveted Best Hand special award! Who knows, maybe we've managed to convert ourselves to Suri breeders?
