Kit Carson has once again returned to CA for the winter/spring and can't wait to meet your girls! We're so excited to have him back and are looking forward to showing his youngsters at the Gold Country Gathering this fall! Recently at the 2021 Gold Country Gathering, our first show in two years, son MHAR Aurelio Carson won RC in Walking Fleece! Judge Cheryl Gehly comment on his fineness, uniformity across primaries/secondaries and lack of guard hair! Check out his 2020 cria fleece (6 months). The photo doesn't do it justice as it rivals dad's for brightness and character! 2019 saw daughter Ebonni Carson win CC in walking fleece (TB) at the Gold Country Gathering under Wini Labrecque! We're so in love with all his cria, but this one is truly special:) The first thing we noticed about his cria is the outstanding vigor, and once dry the brightness of the fleece! And the fleece character is no slouch either. As the cria have grown, we're seeing excellent early density and crimp, glowing brightness, and yummy softness/hand. Oh and the depth of color! Check out the pix of some of our first cria in all their dusty glory. Oh and let's not forget personality... these cria are among the most laid back and easiest to train that we have produced! KC took his first championship at 8 months of age. Since then, his fleece has maintained its length and fineness and he remains one of the best grey males in the country. His production has not disappointed with multiple championships among his offspring. To date we've counted at least 18 of his offspring have won RCC or Color Championships! Among the most recent are RR Crawford, RR Lancelot, 4-Sight's Centerfold, MHAR's Ebonni Carson and MHAR Aurelio Carson. If you have a look at his Watt follicle testing results, the reasons will be obvious. The mix of black and white fibers in his grey is homogeneous in micron. He is the only alpaca, male or female, that carries the best characteristics of the Snowmass Peruvian Casanova and Guns n Roses lines. His follicle density testing by Ian Watt is outstanding at 2 years of age: Density: 57.9/mm2 Secondary: Primary fiber ratio: 9.8:1 In-skin primary fiber diameter: 22.3 micron SD 3.2 In-skin secondary fiber diameter: 13.7 micron SD 2.5 Comments: "High density coupled with an excellent set of numbers for the secondary fiber population give this male potential as a significant sire in .... a group not known for its uniformity within each fiber population. This is a significant animal for silver grey alpacas, where the black fibers tend to be very strong in micron and vary across the staple in most alpacas of this colour.

Dam: San Antonio Gal's Solana

Bred to Sentinels Denali!

San Antonio Gal's Solana

HuacayaBred (Female)Dark Fawn
AOA# 835841DOB: 5/1/200123 yrs
Solana is bred (pregnancy confirmed) to 17 X Champion RR Guns' Kit Carson for her 2018 cria. Based on her previous cria, we expect that this cria will carry the sire's density and likely be grey or black. Given her retained fineness and epds, we think this will be a stellar cria! Solana was part of our original herd purchase. She came to us with Reveille at her side. While he was an accidental breeding (to a suri), he shows that, bred to light color, she will produce a dark cria. So far all of her cria have been a pretty red brown or black. Her fiber is a medium density that has retained it's fineness with age. And her 2012 EPDs show the ability to produce cria with excellent fineness and uniformity: AFD -1.323, SD -0.149, %>30 -7.883. When bred to very dense males, she has produced very dense cria. Twice now, Solana has produced a true black cria when bred to our herdsire Caligula's Troubador. This year it was a girl! She and Midnight Prelude both have great density, coverage and fineness, and excellent conformation, like their Sire. So, for her 2015 cria, we chose to breed her to Velvet Legend in the hope of pulling black or grey from his background. He boasts outstanding conformation, amazing density and lasting fineness. Check out the gorgeous fawn female they produced. Solana's December 2016 cria is by Silver Sammovar, one of our very fine fleeced herdsires. Unfortunately we didn't get gray or black. But we did get a very nice brown boy with striking black points. At three months, his fleece is exhibiting very nice character with "bundling", density, and nice fineness. Add his really nice conformation, and we think this boy has some serious potential! For 2018, we've bred Solana to our newest, multi-champion herdsire, Kit Carson. That cria is on the ground and he is a gorgeous true black. Like all of our Kit Carson cria, he has amazing dense popcorn curls, fleece so bright, he glows i the sun and he is extremely vigorous! Solana sells with our 30 day Live Birth Guarantee and a free breed back to any unrestricted Menagerie Hill Ranch owned Herdsire. That's a three in one package!

Description

This boy has lots of potential as a junior herdsire! His sire is none other than 17 X Champ R Guns Kit Carson! And his dam has excellent EPDs in the area of retained fineness and % <30 Micron. Even without all that, he's got a nice square stance, and loads of lovely, soft, crimpy, true black fleece that is bright bright bright! It's already showing really nice character and density. We're anxious to see how he grows and show him in the fall shows!
