Patagonia’s Chilkoot is a compact herdsire with long staple length, fine fleece, and bright, luscious fiber. He has a beautiful head and compact body. In 2014, Chilkoot was assessed by Senior Judge, Amanda VandenBosch as an “A-.“ He has consistency in micron as well as in color, large bones, and a gentle temperament. His sire is Patagonia’s Lennox, the ultimate Multi-Champion herdsire. His dam, Patagonia’s Augusta, is a top-line production dam on our ranch. Augusta is a 3x Color Champion and received Reserve Champion at AOBA. Augusta also won 6 blues ribbons in her show career (one being at The Futurity). Chilkoot’s show record: Reserve Color Champion, 2013 Great Western Alpaca Show 1st Place, 2013 Great Western Alpaca Show 2nd Place, 2013 AOBA National Show 2nd Place, 2013 Alpacapalooza *Note: Sadly, prior to our ranch receiving Patagonia’s Chilkoot, this outstanding male had an eye injury to one eye which shortened his show career. Chilkoot's Progeny are Champs! Chilkoot’s crias started hitting the ground in 2015 and bringing home Blue Ribbons in 2016! We are especially excited about one of Chilkoot’s oldest sons, Patagonia Estates Sakima, a true black 6x champion and numerous blue-ribbon winner who was instrumental on our 2016-2018 black show strings and is now a champion producing herdsire on our ranch. Daughter, Mauna Lani won the Color Championship at the California Classic along with several blues on our 2018 show string! True black son, Akiak is also a multiple blue-ribbon winner! AOA# 30656451DOB: 8/10/200618 yrs
Congratulations and thank you to Raymond Mena for his purchase of NeverSummer's Casablanca! NEVERSUMMER'S CASABLANCA Casablanca is a snowy white girl carrying a huge amount of fleece! She's out of dam, Peruvian Tiquina, and Victor's Hemiaccoyo Casanova, making her a half-sister to the World Champion and AOBA Nationals Judges' Choice "Aussie .38 Special". She has 5% EPDs 2020. Casablanca has that long, ultra bright, silky fleece style that Casanova is famous for putting on all of his offspring. Offspring: On 5/18/14, Casablanca presented us with a lovely medium brown female sired by Snowmass Satin Reserve XX. On 6/25/15, Casablanca gave us a pretty medium fawn female sired by Patagonia's Chilkoot.

Description

This is yet another sleeper (I appear to be listing all of my "sleeper" girls all at once, here ...!) When Camby first arrived here, my initial impression of her was that she was cute, but just didn't have much going on fleece-wise, and I thought she'd do best as a "starter girl." She hung out here over the winter, and I figured she could go to a beginning farm in the spring. As time went on, I noted that it was nearly impossible to tell her apart, physically, from an elite-quality Tuscan Gold daughter who lives in the same paddock. So, she had really great conformation and breed type. Her head is undeniably beautiful, and I am a head nut ... Then one day I went to evaluate her fleece for a client, and ... Wait, what? Okay, she could be a bit finer (probably around an AFD of 20-22), and her crimp is bold. But brightness ... Oh my WORD, brightness ..! She's also packing a serious staple length, and that isn't always easy to come by. I will confess that she doesn't "feel" dense -- but I have been mightily deceived in the past, especially with fleeces that are this long and bright. Camby is sired by Patagonia's Chilkoot, a bay black Lennox son, and out of a daughter of the great Victor's Hemicoyo Casanova. For a grey program like ours, this makes her a really nice combination of outcross genetics on the sire's side, and a good candidate to line-breed on Victor's Hemicoyo Casanova using our .38 Special boys. ... Then, I'm also a little bit tempted to see if she could produce Harlequin. She is a fading fawn ... Camby has a lot of options. Although she could use improvement in a few areas, I've decided that she's way too nice for a "starter" female. I think she's going to make some very nice offspring, either on our farm or yours.
