We are excited to announce our purchase of High Point Raindance, multiple Champion award winning son of El Nino. Our insistance on a breeding program with the only the best genetics made this an easy decision. High Point Raindance is a very dense male with excellent fleece character, high frequency, uniform crimp, and fineness. His conformation is correct in every way and his presence is truly beautiful. Raindance combines the bloodlines of two of the most successful breeders in the county. His sire, PCA ACCOYO EL NINO, is the already well-known son of Caligula and his dam is the daughter of Snowmaster and Ppperuvian Edelweis (Lot #46, Snowmass Making of Champions Sale; mother to Snowmass Royal Challenger.) The Snowmaster bloodline is very rare in the US and highly sought after as he is no longer available in the US. High Point Raindance is an exceptional male with a solid proven show record. And he has cria that represent him well in the showring with banners of their own. Raindance's cria are outstanding, everything we expected, with presence, crimp, wonderful density and handle. SKIN BIOPSY RESULTS SHOW A FOLLICLE DENSITY OF 51, WITH A SECONDARY FOLLICLE TO PRIMARY FOLLICLE RATIO OF 10.7 to 1. These numbers are consistant with our breeding plan goals for the future. Mobile breedings may apply depending on location. *PROOF IN PROGENY* At 2010 AROW Alpaca Affaire show were Raindance's son, Infinitos Sabado Noche, took Color Champion. This is how Raindance really has proven himself to be a great producer, not just for the fact that Sabado took home the purple, but because the champion of the white male the year before, Black Hill's Zodiak, was also a Raindance cria. That makes TWO YEARS in a row that a Raindance cria has won that championship! Then, in 2011 Sabado had the highest scoring fleece in the show and his sister had the second highest score, BY 1 POINT.

She produced girl after girl for us with the first fabulous cria (our first and a GIRL!!)Ion's Breeze in May 05', another female cria in 06' and yet another fabulous female cria in 07'. She produced a fine and crimpy boy in 2008, and then yet another fabulous female cria in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. Rosalia's 07' cria, Midori, is a Raindance offspring is absolutely beautiful. 09' cria Cabela has beautiful conformation and fleece. Taupie will be greatly missed at Rare Gem Alpacas but he leaves behind a number of lovely offspring to grace our herd for years to come! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Taupie is a striking appaloosa harlequin male that is on a roll for throwing spotted and harlequin offspring. He has sired 53 offspring and 74 percent are either appaloosa or harlequin! While dam selection has a significant influence on such outcomes, it should be noted that the majority of the dams Taupie has been bred to have no genetic influence on this outcome. So for those that don't have existing foundation girls with appy / harlequin lineage-- Taupie has proven to be capable of passing along his appy genetics and produce desired results. So how does this happen? Only part of that story is known, but what we DO know is that certain lines of known appy gene carriers are much more "expressive" than others. Taupie just happens to be one of those. His heritage boasts appaloosa genetics on both sides of his lineage with Aussie Rockford out of Hannahruh on his sire's side and Chiquita Import on his dam's side. In April 2016, Taupie's progeny debuted in the show ring taking a blue in walking fleece and the blue in halter at the California Classic. This first boy was then followed by another appaloosa female and then another appy male-- both very similar to the first. The fourth cria, however, is something extra special! This little girl has expressed every color on the chart, not one pattern-- just speckles and spots from nose to toes-- Rare Gem U-Taupe-ia's Appletini! The unique coloring of this cria looks as though the color from Taupie's Grand Dam, Chiquita Import, is coming through and producing the rarest of rare gems-- her beautiful color seems to morph before your eyes! As much fun as it is to talk about Taupie's progeny... more about him! Taupie has a spotted face, spotted belly, spotted legs, and a beautiful solid platinum-taupe blanket. His top line is a nice medium silver grey, then blending into light silver grey down the sides.
