Update: Sky is being sold as a Pet only. During a veterinary procedure in 2011 her cervix was torn, ending the possibility for further offspring. At the time this was a pretty devastating loss for our farm. With our herd size growing, we are needing to make some sacrifices on moving some animals along. Sky is very special to us, so we will only sell her after a visit to her new owners farm. We will need to be assured she is going to a great place. 2008 AOBA National Show auction- our first auction and one of the most memorable for us. That was not only our first auction, but the first show we had ever entered. When "Sky" came up in the auction we had no idea who Ryen and Ursula Munro were, but even as new breeders we definitely knew who Snowmass Legacy Gold was. We couldn't believe it when the final gavel called out our name as Sky's new owners. We knew she would be a key piece to our successful colored breeding program, and she has not disappointed! In the show ring as a yearling, she took 2nd in her class at AWE and was then awarded the Reserve Color Champion behind Cresent Moon. Wade Gease commented "this female has maintained superior fineness, even against much younger competition". Sky has begun her breeding career and her first cria, a stunning brown female sired by Snowmass Royal Challanger, has made it clear to us she intends on stamping her traits to her cria. This little girl not only has "the look", but she's carrying a very fine, very consistent, and very expressive fleece. We named her "Challanger's Ebony Gold", and she'll be a part of our 2011 show string. For her second breeding, we chose Snowmass XXXtreme. This is a line-breed, but one we felt comfortable making to reinforce the strong genetics of Hemingway.

Description

Ebony is a dream dam for color ... which is exactly why she's in our breeding program! She has the genetic makeup of a champion and the fleece characteristics to match. She also comes with the "showy" alpaca look, which is just icing on the cake! She stems from Snowmass Challenger. Having a sire with his pedigree is, as you'd expect, exciting. To have her color, along with Hemingway roots is equally compelling. And that's just the beginning. His cert. is full of similarly impressive sires. Check it out! Ebony's Dam is no less impressive. She had a horrible accident that ended her ability to have future offspring, which makes Ebony the only offspring she was able to have. It was too bad because she was quite the catch at the futurity auction back in the day. We are glad we have Ebony to keep these elite genetics flowing. She is expecting a cria out of IKE and the results should be fantastic. One of the most highly anticipated crias on our farm in awhile! Stay tuned! ***UPDATE*** She and IKE gave us a gorgeous dark girl - whether its Dark Brown or Bay Black ... too soon to tell. Thick curls abound! Watching her fleece develop will be pure joy! She has the head and confirmation that we would expect from this pairing, which is to say phenomenal. Stay tuned on this girl ... she is the real deal!
