Congratulations and thank you to Kathy McConnell (Peterborough, Ontario, Canada) for her purchase of Patagonia’s Calafate. PATAGONIA'S CALAFATE Calafate was named after the purple berries found in the Patagonia. She has soft fleece and is nicely balanced on a strong frame. Patagonia’s Calafate was assessed by Amanda VandenBosch as an A- female with a soft hand, good length for staple, even uniformity of light & dark grey, lack of medullation, uniformity of micron, and good overall appearance. We selected the Champion Estates Silver Titan with magnificent fine, bright crimp along with a long staple length plus density to rebreed Calafate with a due date of late September, 2018. Silver Titan’s micron count is AFD: 20.5; SD: 5.0; CV: 24.1; %>30 3.3. The percentage of grey offspring when breeding tuxedo to tuxedo is 85%. Start thinking of grey cria names! Offspring: On 9/1/2016, Calafate gave us a lovely TB female cria sired by our Chief Grey Feather. Chief Grey Feather has "Royal Lineage" and is a light silver grey, with great conformation including a straight front and rear, correct bite, and a large solid frame. His fleece has ideal fineness, a silky hand which is uniform throughout with high frequency and well-defined crimp which extends down to the lower belly. There are virtually no guard hairs. He is known for his brightness and density. Grey Feather has received many awards at GWAS, The Futurity, IAO, Gold Country Gathering, and Dixon shows. Grey Feather has passed along brightness, fineness and density to each cria that has hit the ground so far! On 9/7/2017, Calafate presented us with a beautiful MSG female sired by Estates Gray Beard. Looking at her female cria shows you what she can produce. Estate Silver Calliope is stunning just to look at with no spots in the blanket, and she has her dam’s sweet disposition. The cria has beautiful, bright crimp into the underbelly & great coverage on her legs. Yocom testing: AFD:19.2; SD: 3.9; CV: 20.3; %>30: 1.8. Calliope’s sire is Estates Gray Beard, a beautiful fleece male with the sought-after Aussie .38 Special genetics.
