Sky McQueen is the first offspring of champion black herdsire Alexander McQueen, now owned by the prestigious Sentinal Ranch in Washington. McQueen's sire, Snowmass Sterling Legend, is an outstanding Snowmass Nova son who maintained a 15 micron AFD on his third fleece, and a 16.8 AFD on his fouth -- incredible for any color, but about unheard of for black. Sterling Legend has only 21 registered offspring in the AOA database, as he was exported to Germany, making his bloodline particularly rare. Sky's dam line is nothing to sneeze at, either. Her dam is a coveted daughter of the renowned grey herdsire, Bisturi, a multiple-champion and multiple-champion-maker who was, like McQueen, exported (this time to Austria). The fusion of these bloodlines is an outstanding animal. Skye exhibits perfect conformation, with arrow straight legs, a level topline, and excellent proportions. She has very nice breed type, boasting a beautiful headstyle, good coverage, and very good substance of bone. Her fleece is dense, with a very nice, well-defined medium-frequency crimp and a nice handle. Why, then, is Sky for sale? One reason only: We are breeding for compact alpacas, and that is one thing that Sky is not. She is a very large-framed girl, with somewhat stretchy proportions. ... Am I excessively picky? ...
