So very fine! Steel also inherited his sire's trademark silky handle. As he matured, Steel's uniformity and retained fineness brought him to the very top of his extremely competitive classes in the ring. The judges consistently commented on his extreme fineness and soft handle and now his histogram numbers fully support this. Steel is a handsome male with an excellent breeding background and has matured into an elite macho, who has produced champion offspring of his own! Steel's dam, Crescent Moon's Starbright is a lovely Rayo Del Sol daughter who was a blue ribbon winner and a reserve champion in the ring herself. She was a gentle female and proved to be a topnotch breeder and mother. At 6 yrs of age, Starbright's fleece was still 21 microns. Steel continued his show career just months before his 3rd birthday at the 2012 Futurity placing 1st in a competitive class under judge Peter Kennedy. At the 2012 GWAS he was 1st and Reserve Color and the oldest male in his class at 34.7 months and Judge Jude Anderson commented on his fineness, uniformity of color and beautiful fleece character that is still being retained at his age. This is truly remarkable for a male just shy of 36 months to be so competitive in a class of 48 grey males! The color champion was rose grey, so Steel was the best silver grey male at this show! Just for fun, we brought Steel out again in 2013 for a local show- The International Alpaca Odyssey where he was 1st in both Cottage and Commercial grey classes, and Color Champion in the IAO Cottage Division. Although winning and ribbons are fun and good, but the true test of a great herdsire is in his offspring. Once more Steel continues to shine both in the brightness, fineness and soft silky handle of his offspring's fleece as well as the beautiful look he stamps on each offspring. December 4, 2021 - Bella Noche delivered another very handsome true black Royal Steel son. Noche is the perfect mom - lots of milk and her vigorous little guy is doing his part to make it all a non-event! Stay tuned for more info on the newest little prince - "Back in Black"! Bella Noche's two previous offspring, ROCKSTAR's Steely Dan and ROCKSTAR's Velvet Revolver are both Futurity blue ribbon winners, and Steely Dan went on this year to win a huge 1st place in the GWAS yearling male halter competition! In addition, both Steely and Velvet were on the US Steel Get of Sire team at the AOA National show, along with Granite Bay Royal Steel, winning 3rd place, and a very noteworthy placing in uber-stiff competition! Bella Noche is a very sweet, fine and uniform daughter of LV Vantaggio Di Bisturi and BF Bella Mia. Noche, as we call her, is conformationally perfect - very compact, perfect bite with fuzzy little ears and true black fleece from her nose to her toes. She exhibits an extraordinary combination of fineness and density with fleece architecture that falls into small bundles and crimp from skin to tip. There's nothing not to love about her! She hails from great production lines on both sides of her pedigree, and you can expect years of top quality offspring from Noche's proven genetics.

ROCKSTAR’s Steely Dan is the handsome and confident two-year old son of two-time Futurity Herdsire of the Year, Neversummer’s U.S. Steel. Steely is very fine and inherited his sire’s trademark silky handle. In heavy competition, he placed very well taking a blue ribbon at the 2016 Futurity as a juvenile and blue ribbon as a yearling at GWAS 2017, in an extremely tough class. He additionally has won top honors in fleece at the 2016 Gold Country Gathering winning his fleece class and 2nd place in both halter and walking fleece. Judges have praised Steely for his overall level of uniformity, brightness, soft handle, and clean blanket which has an extremely low presence of guard hair. We expect Steely will retain his fineness, brightness, and signature soft silky handle well into adulthood as evidenced by his histogram results thus far. Both his sire and his dam, Bella Noche have strong grey pedigrees behind them and both have retained fineness into adulthood as evidenced by their fleece stats - Bella Noche is maintaining her fineness after 3 pregnancies with an AFD of 20.3, SD of 4.4, and CV of 21.9. Add to all of this Steely’s stellar conformational traits in which he exhibits very nice substance of bone, a compact frame, level topline, and perfect bite. We are anxious to see what this stylish young male will be able to produce. He’s taken quite an interest in the females as he comes up on his 2nd birthday. It would be no surprise if he were to have a long and successful career as a top notch breeding male. Topping it all off is Steely’s sweet disposition! He is super easy going like his sire US Steel, is easily handled, and is a true pleasure to work with.
