*** NEWS FLASH 7/14/18***
It is with a sad heart that I have to post that Snowmass Enlightened passed away today peacefully in our pasture. He had congestive heart failure which was confirmed at Oregon State Vet School and we were treating him with medicines, but he had too much leakage in the valves in his heart. We are happy that we have 9 females pregnant to him this season and 10 females and 2 boys previsoulsy born on our farm. He was such an amazing herdsire and we will miss him dearly.
Skyline Alpacas is extremely pleased to announce the arrival of our newest herdsire, Snowmass Enlightened. One can’t say enough about the quality of this male. I first saw his 2-year-old fleece (3rd fleece) at the CABA Classic fleece show in 2013 and couldn’t believe my eyes. The density, crimp, uniformity, and brightness were truly amazing. No wonder he got Color Champion! Never in my dreams did I think I someday would be the proud owner of this fine male!
Here is what Snowmass had to say about their boy:
“Snowmass Enlightened is a supernal, Multi-Champion Rose Grey Stud. His evolution descends from a remarkable lineage of momentous sires. Most Proximate is his own sire, Snowmass Enlightenment, who is also a multi-champion rose grey stud. He is sired by multi-champion Snowmass XXXtreme, who is sired by Multi-champion Snowmass Royal Rose… All of this is a proven grey performance at its paramount.
Enlightened has a variety of grey, fawn, and dark offspring – all of which are stunning. Their fleeces are all consistently fine, dense, and bright with their sire’s sublime aesthetic in their overall phenotype.”
Now that is an impressive genetic history that shows generation after generation of excellence. We can’t wait to see his first cria on our farm in 2015!
We were not disappointed! We had multiple grey crias and they went on to win many ribbons at the shows. Enlightened also got 2nd in get a sire at Aplacapalooza. This class was not divided into dark and light so it was extremely competitive!
