CLICK ON VIDEO ICON TO HEAR JUDGE'S ORAL REASONS FROM THREE SHOWS Hot Stuff is a 3X Reserve Color Champion: 2011 California Classic (at 1 yr, 11 months), 2011 AlpacaMania (at two years, 5 months), 2011 Gold Country Gathering (at two years, 5.5 months) Read what the judges had to say: HALTER "Beautifully fine really organized fleece carrying great fineness and density. I encourage you to take a look at this male"...Halter judge Stephanie Glyptis at California Classic 2011. "Great, great density, very consistent fleece, and no white fibers. If you have a color breeding program I definitely suggest you take a look at this male"....Halter judge Kevin O'Leary at AlpacaMania 2011 "Presence, Density, Style"....Halter judge Wade Gease at Gold Country Gathering 2011 FLEECE "Great fineness, good balance across the card, good handle, a joy to judge"...Fleece judge Ken Hibbits at Gold Country Gathering (score 80) LIVING UP TO HIS NAME: Nicknamed "Hot Stuff" from day one we knew we were giving him a lot to live up to. When it was time to register him we realized he is "Hot Stuff" and the nickname became official. GENETICS: When it comes to genetics Hot Stuff has a lot going for him. His sire Silver Rose Sentinel is a phenomenal star with a multitude of show ribbons and championships to his credit. Hot Stuff's dam, Melody's Mystique, has produced two cria for us and both are multiple champion males...Hot Stuff and our 2X grey color champion Wisp of Smoke. PHENOTYPE: Hot Stuff exudes “presence.” He has an excellent topline, upright stance and his substantial bone with solid legs supports his well-balanced frame. His fiber is everything we hoped for…true black, fine, bundled zipper style architecture, and great handle. We will consider a lease arrangement too.

PRODUCTION FEMALE TRAITS: Bella has birthed four cria and the process was right out of the text book. All phases went the way they should...labor, delivery, and post birth. Her dam was one of our strongest production females....easy breeder (settles on the first breeding), solid producer, easy births, plenty of milk. Bella demonstrates her dams characteristics as a solid producer have been passed on to her. She immediately bonds, patient and easy with the cria's first nursing experiences, and is displaying all of the characteristics you would want in a foundation female. Bella is an easy keeper and has maintained her weight with a nursing cria at her side. Bella has had four pregnancies and birthed four crias. Each birth was fast and easy. She is an excellent dam...attentive but not overly stressed. She has plenty of milk and her crias thrive. Her cria weights averaged 16.2 lbs. PHENOTYPE: Bella is solid, well-balanced, with a conformationally correct frame. Her admirable fiber characteristics include density and coverage. FIBER: Whatever Bella may lack in fineness, she makes up for in density, coverage, and handle. When bred for fineness, she produces fineness. An example, is her 2009 female Latte's Mocha Twist first year fiber stats were: AFD 16.2, SD 3.7, CV 22.7, %>30u 1. At four years old(5/2013) Mocha's states are AFD 18.8, SD 4.9, CV 25.9, SF 19.1, %>30u 2.4. Mocha's EPD results placed her: Top 3% AFD -1.557 (#759 of 27776) Top 3% SF -1.592 (#739 of 27776) Top 4% %F>30 -5.501 (#1151 of 27776) GENOTYPE: Sired by Hemingway's Tennessee (son of the legendary Peruvian Hemingway) and the great granddaughter of Peruvian Fabio and PPeruvian Demetrio, this dam carries great genetics. TEMPERAMENT: Bella is easy to work with and around. BENEFITS TO YOUR BREEDING PROGRAM: Excellent foundation female breeding traits as mentioned above. Definitely a "no muss, no fuss" producer. She has great coverage and density. When bred to a male exhibiting fineness and uniformity she has produced offspring with those same characteristics. We are so impressed with her 2012 female from Hot Stuff that we repeated the breeding resulting in her 2014 female cria--Cali.. If you are looking for a solid production female with strong inheritable maternal traits and years of production ahead of her be sure to check this girl out. We invite you to call (530-620-6033) for more information and to check out our web site (www.alpacasofsomersetfarm.com) to learn about the benefits of working with us on your alpaca purchases and breedings.
