Description

Kingston has been the 'sleeper hit' out back for the last several years. Without a lot of fanfare from us, he has been recognized as an AOA Trait Leader for AFD and Spin Fineness for the last 4 years. And by 'recognized' we mean Trait Leader #1. He has been featured on the trait leader slideshow on the AOA website and Nationals This means his genetics are a perfect collision of lasting Fineness and uniformity that have been documented across his lineage. We certainly agree, its the real deal if you look at his adult histograms, they have crept up from 13mc back in 2011 and are only now hitting (age age 9) an AFD of 17. Kingston's sire is the multi-champion PC Running Late 557 who has with over 200 offspring on the ground. Covering the fawn herd, he consistently added in extreme fineness - and we mean LASTING fineness - onto offspring. Taking a look at our Running Late offspring here at PPR will testify to that. Check out Kingston's brothers by other mothers to see the proof-in-the-genetics - Run-A-Tab, Camero, and Marz etc... This is where the EPDs do tell a story, and consistently. Kingston's quiet claim to fame has been his being named the NUMBER ONE EPD male Trait Leader in Average Fiber Diameter (AFD) and Spin Fineness (SF) for the last few years. Kingston is just hitting a 17 micron at age 10. When Kingston came to Peaceful Prairie Ranch with the renown Hummingherd Alpacas herd in 2011 he was an adult male with an AFD of 13! Kingston’s full brother Rum Runner had a AFD of 15.1 and a CV of 15.5 at two years of age, and sold to breeders in Alberta. Kingston is a compact male, like many of his siblings and his sire. Because of this, we had obviously lower shear weights as he is simply smaller in stature than other males. You may know what research is leading to in regards to alpaca size - is smaller possibly finer?! At this time, its clear that we need to put Kingston into action, so here we go.... he is being used for breeding and we expect to impart some of his exceptional DNA into our fawn females that aren’t related. Want to jump in and get some of this bloodline and trait values into your program, contact Wendy to discuss ideas!
