2019 Futurity Reserve Herdsire of Year!

A and A & MFI Quixotic

HuacayaHerdsire (Male)Medium Silver Grey
AOA# 32166620DOB: 7/6/201014 yrs
We are proud to own and open up this incredible herdsire for a limited number of breedings. Quixotic’s dam, Starry Night’s Quetzal, was purchased at the prestigious 2008 All American Alpaca Futurity. To say that this dam is impressive is an understatement. She was a gorgeous dark silver grey female with incredible fleece character and rare density. Quixotic’s dam was bred to Majestic Peruvian Jeremiah the first year and the result was the famous multiple champion A & A and MFI Quatrain purchased by Coffee Pot, Whistler’s Glen, Applewood Farm and Tangled Oaks at the 2010 Breeders Choice Auction. The second year she was bred Jeremiah’s paternal brother MFI Peruvian Formula 1, co-owned by Magical Farms and Flying Pony Alpacas and the result was A and A & MFI Quixotic!! Quixotic is phenotypically gorgeous and his fleece is outstanding. As a very young juvenile his fleece won First Place and Grey Male Color Champion at the 2011 AOBA National Fleece Show…an amazing accomplishment for a juvenile grey fleece. Quixotic's crias hit the ground for us starting in 2015 and we have been thrilled at what he is adding to our program here! Several of his offspring have been out and about in the showring and have earned top awards at several highly competitive shows, earning both champions and Judges’ Choice awards. Cloverleaf Alpacas Man of Steel is just one example of the quality we are seeing in Quixotic’s offspring and he is a true standout in the greys, earning top awards at every show he is in! Quixotic's crias have continued to wow and impress even the most discriminating buyers and breeders...and judges! His crias are outstandings!

Dam:

Radiance's Riley

HuacayaBred (Female)Medium Brown
AOA# 32340242DOB: 8/13/201113 yrs
Riley is a beautiful light brown girl with fine and high frequency fleece that is just radiant. Her cria have been wonderful and in colors from white to true black. This is a valuable foundation female that is co-owned by Cinco C's Alpacas. Riley has just produced another beautiful female from her breeding to the multiple champion 5C's Captain Midnight. She is a dark fawn beauty, KCF Rendezvous, with a very bright and fine fleece; and whom just sold September 2018. So, now Riley has proven she can produce big hits in three major color groups! For her next trick, let's see what she does with 17 time Champion KCF Isidoro. Izzy is producing cria in colors ranging from gray to white and most everything in between. The common theme has been dense fine fleeces with tons of structure and bundling regardless of color; that's what we're looking for. If you are looking to shortcut your way to an Izzy cria AND score an incredible production female at the same time, Riley is your girl. Update October 2018 - Riley's new cria is a fawn girl with fleece knotted right down to her skin. It will be a few weeks before these springs unfurl but we are thinking that this may be Riley's best effort to date, and that is sayin' something!

Description

We are really excited about this true black male, Ruger!! When he was coming up as a juvi, we were impressed with the density and handle of his fleece and hoped that it would hold on as he matured. And it has. This combination is really hard to get in a true black male, as is the word 'true'. Peter Kennedy, the reknowned black huacaya breeder and alpaca judge, looked long and hard for a few stray white fibers and found none on this boy!! Ruger is developing into a large boned male with very fine and uniform fleece characteristics throughout. The judges have agreed, and awarded Ruger 2 Reserve Championships. Had it not been for a boy named Stratton that hit the scene in 2018, we feel Ruger would have a lot more ribbon hardware.... All of this should come as no surprise given the genetics behind this male. His sire, Quixotic is a renowned gray male that has produced numerous champions, several in fact for Kendall Creek. Everything we've produced using Quixotic has been uniformly fine and dense with great CV's and tight crimp. Ruger's dam, Radiance's Riley, produced three cria for us before she was sold to Russell’s Alpaca Acres, and we were extremely please with the results on each occasion. All have exhibited bright fine fleece and perfect confirmation. I guess what we are saying here is that with these very uniform and desirable characteristics from both sides of the family, we have every right to expect that Ruger will pass similar features on in his offspring. We are definitely going to find out, as Ruger is scheduled for some of our top females in Spring 2019, and when sold, we are certainly retaining some additional breedings. Ruger is co-owned with Cinco C's Alpacas.
