HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Toledo is the densest alpaca to ever reside on our farm. He has been the signature stud on our herdsire row for many years now. A multi champion in the show ring, Toledo is compact with excellent conformation and stunning fleece. He still maintains fantastic character at age 13! He is so dense that he sometimes doesn’t come in when it’s raining because his fleece is way too dense for him to feel the water! Toledo walks like a prince and knows his job. You can call him in from the field when it is time to breed. Toledo’s bloodlines are rare, especially in a grey alpaca. Best of all, he has sired champions. He has two champion grey sons in Colorado who are now siring champions of their own. Don’t be put off by his age--Toledo can still do his job and has many years left in his breeding career. His progeny show how relevant his genetics still are in the American herd. Toledo is an exceptional candidate for ANY farm’s herdsire row! It would be a shame for him not to be able continue to produce the stunning crias he has proven that he can sire time after time. We are looking forward to the crias out of his son Pierre, and his daughter Mayana who is now on our foundation herd. Now is your chance to acquire a truly exceptional herdsire! We call Toledo “the Ace,” and for good reason. Toledo indeed is our ace, the epitome of an exceptional, elite stud—with champion progeny, and a couple of banners himself. He has already proven that he can throw champion crias—this is well established. Toledo and his outstanding genetics are something to be cherished. We are thrilled to have Toledo's bloodlines, which are very rare east of the Mississippi, to our grey and black breeding program--and proud to be able to offer them to you! In his limited show career, Toledo competed very well. He earned blue ribbons in halter classes, and he also received an unofficial "third" place in a championship class of 47 - having been sandwiched with the renowned Bisturi as Julio Sumar was determining the Reserve Champion at GWAS 2005. (ATV Adonnis had been selected Color Champion.) In 2006, Mike Safley commented enthusiastically about his fleece at GWAS, awarding him 2nd place, with first place again going to ATV Adonnis. At the same show, Toledo was awarded grey Color Champion. Toledo is typey, with a gorgeous head and a perfect bite. His fleece character and density are OFF The Charts! The picture of his fleece shown here was at 4 years of age! Toledo’s crias include some stars: Argenta Granite (owned by Argenta Alpacas): Granite won the Grey Color Championship at the TxOLAN Alpaca Show in February 2012. Chimera’s Orion Grey (owned by Chimera Ranch): Champion at the National Western and Reserve Color Champion grey at Mid-America. Though he is a compact male, Toledo has excellent conformation and coverage (and a fine personality to boot). His fleece is absolutely stunning. He has extreme density and gorgeous crimp.

HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Frostty is an independent alpaca with incredibly rare bloodlines. She is the product of two rare grey imports. This makes her lineage quite unusual, and on top of that, she is silver grey! She is a relatively large alpaca and her fleece is very dense. She always throws stunning fleece on her crias. It has been a joy to see what she produces for us every year! She is a great mother and an easy breeder. Though she is a bit older, she still has the ability and time to produce many more awesome crias! Frostty is currently nursing a handsome black male cria. He is not included in her sales price. Frostty is one of the key acquisitions to the Whispering Willows foundation herd that we have added in the last couple of years. She is a stunning grey girl, standing tall and stately in the pasture. Frostty is the sister of our champion herdsire SA Peruvian Noche Negro, and is also the sister of the well known grey herdsire Shaquille. All three are out of the outstanding 5Peruvian Quicksilver 9057. Frostty's lineage also includes the grey imports CPeruvian Stirling 105 IMPF98 and CPeruvian Silver Star 1233 IMPF98.

Description

HERD DISPERSAL UPDATE: Tesla is a solid true black out of two classic tuxedo silver greys. He is the perfect addition to any black and grey breeding program, with exceptional and rare bloodlines. This boy has solid conformation, big bone, and lots of soft fleece with great crimp, bundling, staple length, and handle. He is young but oh so promising! We are liquidating our herd and want to find a home for Tesla and his friend Fausto together where they will be pampered and given the opportunity to prove themselves in the show ring. Both boys are promising young junior herdsires with exceptional pedigrees of black and grey. Don't miss this opportunity! Very little risk and lots to gain! Tesla is out of our star herdsire MFI Toledo, who has already thrown two champion sons, both of whom are standing stud in Colorado and building solid reputations of their own as their offspring win ribbons in the show ring. Toledo is the densest animal we have had on our farm, with fleece that has retained its character and softness. Toledo also has extremely rare bloodlines for a classic silver grey. Tesla's mom is one of our best dams; Frostty is an easy breeder, birther, and terrific mother. She also has rare bloodlines for a silver grey huacaya. Tesla is named for the well known Nikola Tesla, who was an early 20th century Serbian-American inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, physicist, and futurist who is best known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current (AC) electricity system still in use today. Attempting to develop inventions he could patent and market, Tesla conducted a range of experiments with mechanical oscillators/generators, electrical discharge tubes, and early X-ray imaging. Tesla became well known as an inventor and would demonstrate his achievements to celebrities and wealthy patrons at his lab, and was noted for his showmanship at public lectures. The nature of his work and the pronouncements he made to the press later in life earned him the reputation of an archetypal "mad scientist" in American popular culture. In 1960, the General Conference on Weights and Measures named the SI unit of magnetic flux density the "tesla" in his honor. There has been a resurgence in popular interest in Tesla since the 1990s. Tesla is for sale as part of a set, along with his buddy Fausto. Both born in October 2016, these promising grey and black boys are potential herdsires and show candidates. We would like to keep these two friends together, and are hoping to find a farm that will work with them and possibly show them. There is great potential here--one or both of these boys could develop into very nice herdsires. Both boys are very curious and love to be around people. The boys are newly weaned, so at this point are not halter trained and have not been extensively handled; we will be working with them this spring.
