The focus of our close to 20 year breeding program has been fleece - fine fleece, dense fleece, fleece with a long staple length & fleece that is consistent in fineness, crimp & color. Our primary focus has been fleece. When cria are born, we evaluate them on their fleece quality & conformation - color is often a bonus & has not been a focus for us. So when we got that "gotta have a grey" compulsion and began looking for a grey herd sire to breed to some of our best fleeced girls who have generations of ancestors here on the farm, we had some very high expectations in mind. We don't want to just produce greys. We don't want to just produce a nice grey. We want to be able to produce nice greys as consistently as we've produced elite fleeced whites & fawns. When I saw Mattie for the first time, I was impressed. When I felt Mattie for the first time, I was in love. Then the research began & the fleece samples were requested & the micron reports were gone over with a fine toothed comb. It quickly became evident to me that Mattie could produce beautifully fleeced cria consistently for our farm. His fleece is exquisite. With a low micron and a low CV, his fleece has a buttery feel & an uncommonly soft handle, especially for a grey. His staple length rivals some of the best at my farm. He has consistent, tight crimp & has few spots on his blanket. Mattie's genetics are among the best in the business. His sire is Lancaster, owned by Flying Pony, whose genetics are so sought after, he has over 300 cria. Mattie is among only 6 grey males that Lancaster has ever produced. Lancaster's sire is Conan whom we've admired for years. We have several Conan offspring here on the farm and rarely part with these genetics. Mattie's dam is a ribbon winner herself who has produced gorgeous cria including a Judge's Choice winner. We are proud to co-own Mattie with Gentle Breeze Alpacas & Out of Sight Alpacas.

Accoyo Applause comes from very careful selective breeding that has consistently produced dense, fine fleece for us. Applause's sire is none other than Accoyo Stratosphere, a fawn Legacy son and one of the anchors in our breeding program. With more than 40 championships and 80 blue ribbons, his cria have proven themselves in the showring. Applause is certainly in good company with her paternal siblings. Applause's dam is Ideuma Creek's Accoyo Accolade, a blue ribbon dam with a 16.9 micron out of Michelangelo. We're awfully proud of Accolade's EPD. She's in the top 4.7% for AFD. The top 11% for ADAFD and her fleece weight is in the top .9% (that's point 9!) She is fine, consistent and incredibly dense, and her EPD indicates she'll pass this on - to Applause. Applause has an excellent chance of having similar EPD results. Applause is bred to our Lancaster son, Shooting Star's Peruvian Grey Matter for her first cria in mid July 2016. It's no secret that we're hoping for grey, but any color from this combination should have stellar conformation and stellar fleece. UPDATE - Rose Grey Girl!!! She's beautiful!

Description

Fairy Tale was exactly what I was hoping for when I bred one of my full Accoyo fawn girls to Peruvian GreyMatter. Her fleece is drop-dead gorgeous - the color, the crimp, the fineness. She has it all. Fairy Tale also has excellent conformation and a presence about her that is simply regal. Her genetics are also impressive. Her dam is in the top 10% in EPDs for fleece weight and is an Accoyo Stratosphere daughter. Her sire is our coveted Peruvian GreyMatter, a Lancaster son who is throwing outstanding cria for us. We are proud to have made Fairy Tale here at our farm. She comes with a breeding to the herd sire of your choice. I would be very, very tempted to breed her to Accoyo Crescendo. He has some of the most beautiful, dense, fine, crimpy, organized, bundly fleece I've ever seen on an alpaca anywhere! We have entered him in just two fleece shows and he's received 2 blue ribbons and a championship. Other choices include Accoyo Zagot, Accoyo Truman, Accoyo Cuba Libre or Accoyo Invasion. A breeding to Silver Bullet would also be spectacular. He is in the top 1% for fleece length so you would have good odds to getting a grey cria with extra-long fleece from this pairing.
