Bred in the high mountains of New Mexico, Cochiti (pronounced CO-chi-tee)is nothing short of spectacular. A large, tall male with a proud head and bearing, Cochiti has already impressed judges with his presence as well as his fleece in big company. His achievements include White Male Color Champion at both GWAS (Denver) and AlpacaFest West. More recently, he won White Color Champion and the award for Best Crimp in the AWE Fleece Show 2006. Included in that competition was the White Color Champion at the AOBA 2005 Fleece Show. The judge, Cameron Holt, the world's foremost expert on alpaca fiber, took one look at Cochiti's fleece and said, "Well, we can pack up and go home now. This is it." Cochiti's extremely dense, crimpy fleece with incredible staple length impressed us so much we put a group together to purchase this male before he had begun breeding, and he has not let us down. Cochiti has settled nine females so far, all on the first attempt. He not only brings the genetics of his sire Augusto, but also the possibility of color since his dam is dark brown. His cria(in a range of colors) are exquisite, exhibiting elite style fleece characteristics and excellent conformation. Cochiti is co-owned with Canzelle Alpacas in Santa Barbara, CA, HummingHerd Alpacas in Emmet, Idaho and Lightheart Ranch in Somis, CA. Description

Took 2nd Place, Mature Fleece under our own Quech 22, and over 3rd place, Elite Legend! THAT says a lot for this male hitting 7 years! This is the kind of fleece we want to grow. A hidden gem out in the pen here - we have decided ‘Coach’ is some kind of wonderful as we looked over his fleece at shearing 2018. Here sat a six year old male with bright, long and soft fiber, a heavy shear weight and all around gorgeous. His bloodline from Hummingherd’s Karolina and the infamous Aspen Ridge’s Augusto’s Cochiti are quite the outcropping from our heavily utilized ‘Levi’ line over the last few years. Coach has the fleece length and brightness that is a perfect complimentary trait to cover some of our females here. At age 6 with these stats, and now that we’ve eye-balled his 7 year fleece - we feel he deserves some accolades. We just took his fleece to Nashville for the 2018 AOA Fleece Show and he took 6th place - which we Feel is exciting, with the likes of Loro Piano, Quech 22 and Elite Legend in the class he held his own. Judge Cheryl Gehly noted his ‘very fine secondaries for age’. We’re in this for LONG TERM QUALITY and consistent production of elite fibers at Peaceful Prairie Ranch, Coach K is a great example of these founding principals. Win your fleece game with Coach K! He is an awesome male with elite fleece characteristics- TOP 3rd percentile in SDAFD, Top 5th Percentile in SF, %>30, Mean Curve and % Medulation, and TOP 6th percentile in Fleece Weight. He is a tall, loveable guy who is super easy to handle.... our large quantity of excellent males could be your gain if you act fast, we just can't use them all, and his quality is high enough (as well as genetics) that he should be a breeder. He is ready to breed and eager to be put to use. 2016 - AGE 5 Fleece Stats: AFD 19.6 SD 3.8 CV 19.3 % > 30 - 0.9
