Bred in the high mountains of New Mexico, Cochiti (pronounced CO-chi-tee)is nothing short of spectacular. A large, tall male with a proud head and bearing, Cochiti has already impressed judges with his presence as well as his fleece in big company. His achievements include White Male Color Champion at both GWAS (Denver) and AlpacaFest West. More recently, he won White Color Champion and the award for Best Crimp in the AWE Fleece Show 2006. Included in that competition was the White Color Champion at the AOBA 2005 Fleece Show. The judge, Cameron Holt, the world's foremost expert on alpaca fiber, took one look at Cochiti's fleece and said, "Well, we can pack up and go home now. This is it." Cochiti's extremely dense, crimpy fleece with incredible staple length impressed us so much we put a group together to purchase this male before he had begun breeding, and he has not let us down. Cochiti has settled nine females so far, all on the first attempt. He not only brings the genetics of his sire Augusto, but also the possibility of color since his dam is dark brown. His cria(in a range of colors) are exquisite, exhibiting elite style fleece characteristics and excellent conformation. Cochiti is co-owned with Canzelle Alpacas in Santa Barbara, CA, HummingHerd Alpacas in Emmet, Idaho and Lightheart Ranch in Somis, CA. Pink's a beautiful girl out of Microsoft-Accoyo Marco Polo. She makes great babies and is a good mother. She recently had a cria that is beautiful. We had to call the baby "Hilary Swank". Hopefully she'll be a "Million Dollar Baby".

Description

Now capturing Produce of Dam awards, we are so proud of this foundation female here at PPR. Pink delivered a whoppin’ 20lb male cria 11/9/17 by Eastwind’s Snowstorm, who is now owned by Apple Mountain Alpacas in GA. This baby is a shocker arriving in Light Fawn from both white parents, he is absolutely gorgeous - Thanks Pink! As a weanling, he suddenly shakes out at a Light Rose Grey... Pink is full of surprises after delivering two white award-winning males "Senator" in 2016 and "Rafael" in 2014. We gave her some time off in 2018 and she will be rebred to Quech 22 - our Elite Legend son that sports complimentary traits in bright white. Pink' came to Arizona at just 6weeks of age when the Hummingherd Alpaca breeding program relocated from Idaho. She has always been a favorite of mine, and I'm so fortunate to now own her! She has a wonderful personality and now runs to greet certain visitors at the fence. She is a delight to manage, and has been an easy rock-solid mother of two cria thus far. She has genetics that are notable for not just a fine and dense blanket fleece, but a great staple length as well. We struggle with growing a good staple length here in the Southwest, but PINK knows how to pack on the fleece! Her first offspring, Peaceful Prairie's Rafael, had a second shearing that just blew us away (see photo). We thanked PINK and happily welcomed her second and third cria since. For her first offspring, Rafael went on to shear 10.1 lbs total on his second shearing, in 2016 WITH A 5.5" staple length! Additionally, he has already collected 2 Firsts and Color Championships at both Calpca's Cold Country gathering 2016 and ABRs Fall Festival 2016. That summer, he took home a blue ribbons from the AOA National fleece Show one of which was ‘Brightest Huacaya Fleece’. We are very proud of that. His fleece is the type that we're breeding for on a larger scale. We want as much extremely uniform, good length and consistency throughout. In Rafael’s last fleece show he was awarded a score of 84.5 - in D CLASS! We believe in the production power of Pink! Pink’s second male cria started to enter shows as a juvi and in 2017 took a Second Place And Reserve CC at the ABR Fall Fest Fleece show in Denver, and 3rd in a tough class at AOK Blast Off Fleece show. We feel Pink is the underpinning of a great breeding program. Pink has been rebred and will remain in the PPR foundation breeding herd, but WE WILL CONSIDER offers for this elite female.
