If you are serious about breeding alpacas to meet the demands of a large-scale American fiber industry, then you should seriously consider breeding your females to Accoyo America Tempest! At 7 years of age, his fiber was judged at the International Alpaca. Odyssey to excel with those attributes most important to the fiber industry: Retention of fineness, and uniformity of micron, length, and architecture! Accoyo America Tempest is a male cast in his VERY famous father's image (Nautilus). The award-winning offspring that Nautilus has produced comprise a "Who's Who" of the Alpaca Industry [ Accoyo America Typhoon, Sinbad, Apocalypse, and Shanghai, to name just a few..] and his dam is no slouch either, producing Tempest’s full brother Typhoon – who sold for a whopping $100,000 at the 2006 Parade of Champions sale. Tempest has a stunningly bright fleece with high frequency, low amplitude crimp. Long, long staple length, exceedingly organized and consistent.. His 2008 (13 1/2 months old) fleece had a stunning AFD of 15.5 and an SD of 3.5..WOW… The results of his skin biopsy (Watt) are just in and they are EXCELLENT!! At 43 months: Density 63/mm2, Secondary:Primary fiber ratio: 13.3:1 Primary fiber diameter 23.9 Secondary fiber diameter 15.9. Ian Watt points out that, "he has an excellent fiber population differential of only 8 microns. ...a superior fiber for a near four year old working male. " BREAKING NEWS: For 2011 Tempest sheared 15 pounds total, with a blanket weight of 4.9 pounds!! And, in 2014 two of his crias in Idaho had AFDs of 14.3 and 14.4 at 11 months of age! These fleece characteristics are a tribute to his rare and elite Cconchatanca genetics. The legendary Hemingway, (Tempest's grandsire) and Tempest's dam, Diana, both came from the fabled Cconchatanca herd (see Mike Safley's article about this at the Northwest Alpacas website), said to have vicuna interbreeding dating to the mid-19th century. With the Peruvian/Shining Path uprising of the late 20th century, these genetics were lost to Peru, and those of us who have Cconchatanca alpacas in the US consider ourselves fortunate, indeed. Tempest has a level topline, excellent leg set, good bone, medium frame and carries fleece from his very nice topknot all the way down. This is a male who will retain his fineness and to whom you want to breed for ultra-fine, bright fleeces with high frequency crimp, advanced bundling architecture, and consistency. ***My Dream Came True!! Tempest took 1st in Get of Sire competition--over 4 other males, several of whom have "Get" wins to their credits. This was "real" competition! AND his cria took Reserve Champion! AND it just gets better--Tempest was awarded 2 Champion Banners in Commercial Fleece at the International Alpaca Odyssey in 2014--for "Best Retention of Fineness" and for the "Grand Champion Commercial Huacaya Fleece". His daughter, Rockstar's Twisted Sister, took RC at the 2016 Futurity and CC + Best Head at

Fantastic EPDs, Outstanding Pedigree!

MRN Best Man's Ultima

HuacayaBred (Female)White
AOA# 32477962DOB: 7/4/201311 yrs
Ultima is both adorable and beautiful. Her heritage is squarely in the Snowmass lineup--her dam is a daughter of high-selling Snowmass Matrix and her sire is Snowmass Best Man, who sold to a farm in Switzerland in the 2012 Snowmass auction for a pretty penny! Ultima carries fawn genetics: her maternal grand dam is fawn and her dam produced fawn by a fawn male. Ultima has a fawn spot on her very pretty face. She has a beautiful long staple with excellent crimp, bright fine fleece, and a luscious handle. Her conformation is perfect--she really could fit into a box! And she has a lovely wedge-shaped head. Take a look at her outstanding EPDs each year--there's a lot of "top 1%" listings in there! She has been an excellent mother to her first cria, a male who took blue ribbons in his first 3 shows and is going on to a breeding career in Colorado. Ultima's 2019 cria by MRN Matrix Lord of Sipan is a fantastic light fawn male. Because he is a heavy line breed, both on Snowmass Matrix and on Snowmass Quechua, we have named him Mas Snowmas. This breeding turned out so well, we are repeating it with a cria due in late May, 2020! Ultima is on our farm in Marin County, in the North San Francisco Bay area.

Description

Mr. Snowmass Matrix, Mr.Snowmass Best Man--please meet Mr. Hemi-Accoyo Nautilus. This is a meeting that has been long in the making!! Perfect Storm (aka "Squirt") has a fantastic pedigree and carries the positive attributes of his forebears. Fineness and uniformity of micron come from Matrix and Hemi-Accoyo Nautilus. Fantastic density and crimp are most associated with his sire and Nautilus son, Accoyo America Tempest. I think all these guys contribute to Perfect Storm's excellent substance of bone and coverage. And take a look at his EPDs---NICE!! And the judges noticed!--He took blue ribbons in his first three competitions! And another blue ribbon as a yearling in halter at Gold Country Gathering 2018. Perfect Storm color checked as beige, although we think he's really white. But his dam has a fawn spot and there is fawn in her background, in addition to Matrix' ability to pass any color! So who knows what colors this guy can produce? Since we own both his dam and sire, Perfect Storm is up for sale. At this low price, he is a steal--take advantage of our overpopulation! Perfect Storm is at our North San Francisco Bay farm, Alpacas of Marin. Perfect Storm is SOLD to Lori Trembath in Colorado! Congratulations!!
