Hummingherd's Delight

HuacayaOpen (Female)White
AOA# 31108263DOB: 10/1/200717 yrs
Delight is an excellent foundation female for a top quality herd. She is from one of the top dam's in the Hummingherd Alpacas program. She is the daughter of Delicacy, two-time champion and produce of dam winner., maternal line is full of white color champions. On the sire's side she is sired by Marco Polo a 'fleece king' who won reserve color champion in the 2004 AOBA National Fleece show. Delight has an exquisitely bundled, dense fleece that is bright and fine as well. In her first show, the Southwest Regional, she won Color Champion as a yearling. The judges gave kudos for her extreme density, along with fineness and crimp. She has now also won Bred and Owned yearling female in three different regional shows: AWE, Northwest Alpaca Showcase and Southwest Regional shows. With her sire, dam, sisters as champions, she proved to carry on the tradition. We love owning this type of dam, who has such high quality output that paired with increasingly stellar herdsires, you are really able to see leaps forward in your breeding program. Today, Delight is well known for producing championship offspring, well known for density. Were not just saying she is 'dense' .... she is SO DENSE people cant believe what they're sinking their hands into when they meet Delight. Delight was bred to the highly ribboned Snowmass Perfection an elite Accoyo/Alianza mix (out of Snowmass Wedding Pacabells and 4Peruvian Legacy-that $1.5Million dollar male!) and produced Perfectly Delightful, who's first offspring Bodhi is now fetching ribbons and was awarded 'Best Crimp' in show at the ABR Fall 2016 fleece show. her 2012 male, Run-A-Tab, is now starting his breeding career at Peaceful Prairie Ranch with a skin biopsy Follicle Density result of 87.4! Yes, you read that correctly. Thanks to Delight, that density is stamped out in her offspring consistently. Next came Tsering in 2013 and then Delaria in 2014. Delaria is racking up the ribbons as well. Delight is truly a Foundation Female - we welcome inquiries on this female if you are interested in this genetic line.

Description

Congratulations to Charlene and Don of Integrity Alpacas & Fiber for their purchase of Delaria! Delaria is now a proven Breeder, having given birth to her white female cria ‘Spitz & Giggles’ November 2017. Daughter Spitz & Giggles is just phenomenal, as we expected putting our densest female with our stud Hummingherd’s Quech 22 - who is a Snowmass Elite Legend son who has fineness and extreme uniformity well into adulthood. Delaria ended her show career on a high note: she took a first place at AOA Nationals 2017- while a small show class, she was noted for the density and uniformity she carries. In 2016, after grabbing 2nd Place and RESERVE CC at Calpaca's Gold Country Gathering Oct 2016 (under our own Rafael who was awarded 1st place and CC), Delaria just took 4th Place at ABR's Fall Fest Fleece Show! Tough competition there...we're thrilled! We’ll be perfectly happy to keep Delaria and never sell her, as we see her as an up-n-coming seed stock producer due to her extreme density and character of fleece. It is exactly what the industry’s forward thinking breeders are breeding for and we're thrilled with the fiber that is just absolutely packed on her. We usually give accolades to the sire who passed density, and her sire Hummingherd’s Levi’s 501 certainly did that! Additionally, this gal's dam ‘Delight’ is the densest female on our ranch, and well known for offspring with follicle density's at the top of the charts! (See Delaria’s half brother ‘Run-A-Tab's listing) Standing solid on a well balanced frame, she is a female that combines the hard-to-reach goal of fineness AND density WITH character that we're striving towards. Delaria is the whole package! When put into production at age 2 she conceived on first breeding with out Elite Legend boy, Hummingherd's Quech 22 and has been a great first time mom. Her cria is the most brilliant white and exceptional. For the ‘icing on the cake’ here Delaria has the EPDs showing TOP 1% in MC (#280 of 42,559), then she ranks top 3% Fleece Weight and Top 4% in Medulation. For SDAFD she is in the top 10.45% and follows within top 25% of the 42K Females in the EPD Datatbase for AFD, Spin Fineness and %>30. She is therefore a leading production dam now that will further your program into production of future generations of TRAIT LEADERS in our industry. Delaria's fleece comes off in perfect pure bright white that is absolutely stunning with density and a crimpy structure in her fleece with retained fineness. With a predictable lineage of solid white, she will easily bring any owner into the new (and competitive) textile industry requirements with the best return for your investment. As a particularly dense female, she will certainly bring more than most females to the breeding equation.
